KevinReddirt (1807) - Midland, Texas, USA - JUL 16, 2020UPDATED: JUL 16, 2020 My first adventure with NOLA, I hope it goes well. I prefer the depth of imperial stouts but a good stout is always appreciated. This 16 oz can out of a four pack goes into my New Belgium snifter, classic black with a mahogany head that descends to a full skim. A fine scent, dark chocolate, syrup and a suggestion of berries. The taste goes a different direction, ash, black licorice, malt, semi sweet chocolate and earth. Nicely thick for a stout. Decent.
Foxbush (3502) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - NOV 20, 2019UPDATED: NOV 20, 2019 16 oz can This was given to me at a wedding in New Orleans What a find! The stout poured an opaque black with a tan head that dissipated to the outer ring of the beer. Only modest lacing. The aroma was of roasted malts, chocolate, and hints of licorice. The taste was complex with dried fruit like prune and raisins. You also taste more chocolate and licorice. The stout has a medium body with soft carbonation. Clean finish with roasted malts in the upper mouth.
JDBaker11058 (3946) - Sandy Spring, Maryland, USA - JUN 16, 2019UPDATED: JUN 16, 2019 I quite liked this. Very dry and roasty, with some dark chocolate. Not overly complex, but extremely well done.
Can at The Commander's Palace, New Orleans trip 2019.
