Aroma is coffee, nutty roast malt. light chocolate.
Nice roast malt sweetness and a little smokiness in the flavour, slight bitterness balances out the finish.
Very drinkable.
At first I was pissed about four packs. I didn’t realize till I got home that they were 16 oz bottles. danielcurtis81 (953), San Diego, California, USA

Flavors have some nice chocolate tones that go back and forth to coffee. A creamy milk chocolate. Full malt backing adds to the complexity.
Mouth is nicely carbinated with a medium to full mouth. Medium length sticky finish. Mild bitterness. Great schwarzbier. Plenty of full flavor. jtw (950), farmington, Michigan, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 21, 2001 Finally found a store in Michigan that stocks Wisconsin micros (Oliver T’s in Grand Blanc). As a result, I can rate beers that my palate only distantly remembers from the years I lived in Dairyland. This is the main treat, a rich malty brew with a smoky edge. It fades to sweerness as you go , and that to me, is a bit of a drawback, but it’s a hell of a beer. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA

Flavor is light but complex, dominated by roasty, chocolatey malt flavors and the flavors of good pumpernickel bread. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 20, 2007 Poured from a 16oz bottle and served in a shaker. This beer poured a rich black color with some mahogany highlights around the edges of the glass. A one-finger thick head of tan foam faded into a thin layer of small, lasting bubbles. No lace. The aroma of this beer was made up of rich caramel notes, chocolate, and a light smokiness. The flavor consisted of an abundance of balanced malts. Notes of chocolate, coffee, and caramel all intertwined seemlessly with a hint of dark fruit sneaking in towards the end. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. The flavor of this beer was exceptionally balanced and smooth, making it a great session choice. Well done! GMCC2181 (924), Elkton MD, Delaware, USA
