Commercial Description:
Brewed in the northern style of an English ale. This light brown ale has a nice caramel and toasted malt flavor, combined with a fresh hoppy aroma that is slightly fruity. This is nicely complimented by a subtle bitterness that rounds out the palate.

From the bottle. This is a solid, very drinkable, tasty beer that is very English and almost rather like an earthy English bitter as much as a brown ale. The appearance isn’t much. It is a nice red-brown but has a very thin, fizzy tan head that immediately dissipates into bubbly fizz, elaving nothing. The aroma is malt, toasty, yeasty bread, a hint of nuts. The taste is a little earthy, with a faint sour hint, some sweetness, a faint hint of bitterness, with traces of toffee, nuts, and more wehat bread with a mild grain aftertaste. It’s quite fizzy for the style, which lends some interest but also detracts as it’s a little too much. It’s pleasant and tasty, very easy to drink and pleasant, but not exciting. It strikes me as rather similar to Young’s St. George’s or a weaker, mild Hobgoblin, although I’d have to taste them together to be certain.

Huge tan head crowns this amber colored nectar. Aroma is of barley and malt. Very creamy on the palate with a nice balanced flavor profile of toasted grains, hops and bread. Quenches a powerful thirst. Try it served with steak and bell peppers off the grill.

clear brownish copper colour with a thin off white head. aroma is slightly nutty roasted malt and toffee. Easy roasted malt flavour with a light nutty bitterness. Not especially complex, but a nice enough session brown. Perhaps a touch over carbonated though.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Malty with caramel malt tones, some light nuts, almond, subtle dry coffee roast and some light esters. Thin sessionable brown ale.

Akin to Newcastle, this brew is nutty and somewhat caremely and nutty. Quite tasty at a warmer temperature. Not really recommended - their Hefe Weiss is much better in my opinion. But this is still a good ale. No doubt.

Pours dark red/brown. Creamy, frothy head. Roasted malt aroma. Faint roasted flavor with some bitterness. A little thin, but good.

Had at the brewpub after a tour of the place. Not bad, but just a normal plain brown ale.

A deep ruby brown color with a thick off-white head that quickly calms down. Aroma is very sweet with brown sugar, raisin and caramel malt. a slight nutty note, light chocolate malt also in there with a toffee finish. A strong toffee and caramel flavor at the front, plum middle and a nutty ending. Overall a decent offering by Sprecher but just not a beer I would enjoy on a regular basis.
