Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Awesome. Very thick dark chocolate, coffee and strong alcohol percentage (Although the taste hides it very well). I’ve had other stouts where the chocolate and coffee tastes just don’t seem right but this one is great. I wasn’t as big of a fan of the aroma that I was hoping, but that may have been unavoidable with such a high alcohol content. Regardless, this is a great beer

Bottle. High creamy and dense thick looking brown head leaving nice curtains. Pitch black body. Light bitter and yet creamy coffee choccolate aroma. Creamy and smooth intensive strong coffee choccolate flavor with a mild bitterness at the finish. Low carbonation. Long aftertaste. Alcohol can be spotted in the aroma but is very well hidden in the flavor.

Bottled. Pours out in an aopque black topped with a low firm pale brown head. Big aroma of coffee, nougat, rich dark malts. Full-bodied with strong solid notes of of dark coffee dark chocolate and rich solid dark malts. Perfect mouthfeel. Long rich aftertaste of coffee, dark chocolate, burnt sugar and cocoa. A stone rock solid brew with simplistic wonderful flavours.

Ah, my first speedway! Pours thick and oily in the glass and produces a slowly building creamy mocha head. Fair dense coffee nose. Strong roast, hint of bourbon, full bodied and creamy. Great lacing. Warming throughout. Solid and sturdy.

To get into this rating you must understand that this rating constitutes from the tastes of this beverage from years back, 6 or so to be exact. Back then, this was a solid 4.4. Lately it’s seemed to me to be much thinner, with not as much of a punch. Regardless, one of the world’s top brews, the coffee notes are overwhelming in that way that leaves you screaming for more. YUM.

Bottle. Thanx Ölbutikken and Jeppe!!!! Pours a really dark/black color with a minibeighehead. Aroma is a good blast of coffee and dark fruit with some subtle roated malt and a wonderful caramel touch. Finally let’s taste this son of a gun. Unbelievable smooth mouthfeel! Taste is filled with fresh coffee, liqourice, dark fruit and some caramel. Pretty sweet but not overpowering. Supereasy to drink, dangerous! Great beer!

Location: On tap at the Brewery, 1/8/10

Aroma: Lots of roasted coffee, chocolate, and caramel
Appearance: Dark black beer with fine brown head
Flavor: Roasted malty flavor of coffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla, with some nice roasted and chocolaty bitterness in the finish
Palate: Full bodied, smooth brew with a creamy mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I’ve been holding onto a bottle of this beer for a while, but I was able to try it on draft while visiting AleSmith, and I am curious to see how the ratings will compare between the draft and the bottle (with some age on it) versions. Here goes the rating for the draft version:
A big coffee flavored beer that has a really nice overall feel to it. This is a very good Imperial Stout. I enjoyed my draft sampling quite a bit, and I look forward to the bottle sampling.
