Commercial Description:
Available cold filtered in 500ml bottles. Occasionally available in the cask.
"Iron Horse is a strong pale ale hand crafted at the beer station from a complex grist of roasted malts and English hops. This gives a full flavour with a traditional Sussex hoppy nose to the beer."

Poured with a nice large, textured, foamy, frothy, off-white head and a bit of lace. Color is a clear amber. Aroma is typical Brit esb and nothing of note. Flavor is more interesting - with a little sour tang on the sides of the tongue, some decent hop and malt and so some sweet and bitter flavors. Body and carbonation are good. Finish is ok with some odd solvent flavors. Not a bad beer but nothing special.

bottle on 1/5/10. pours cinnamon-y iced tea colored and clear with a barely off white head. the aroma is a touch catty at first... it opens up to show caramel, fruit (peaches maybe), florals, grain, herbaceous-ness and earthy spice. the flavor is the same as the aroma but with a spiced dry finish and a touch of malty sweetness. the medium body feels like it is missing something in the middle but it is certainly easy to put away. 6/3/6/3/13/3.1

Two-finger eggshell white head--dense. Light amber color with a slight haze. Some chunky lace. Very mild aroma of softer, paler malts. Some caramel. Nearly no hop. More watery than I’d expect for the style. There’s a distinctly adjunct flavor to the malt...disappointing. Mild hop finish--not long lasting.

Cask at the Claret Free House in Croydon on 21/11/2009. Copper coloured with whitish head. Spicy and hoppy with a lot of fruit and the flavour of a sweet variety of Orval. A zingy mouthfeel and a long hoppy finish.
