Commercial Description:
At 10.5% alcohol by volume, barley wine style ale is in a class all its own. Intense caramelized flavors create sweetness which is balanced by huge additions of Galena hops. Cascade aromatic hops are added at the end of the boil to compliment this strongest of ales.

Dark ruby with a creamy off white head. Lace plus is what was in my notes, but I’m not sure what that is supposed to mean. An almost sour aroma greets you at first but quickly moves into a caramel and roast malts. Figs and dark crystal malts. Citrus is maybe making some of the sourness. Flavors bring out the bittering hops. Great caramel malts. Sweet malts come out next. Raisins and brown sugar. Alcohol. Thick, cloying and sticky. I like it. Finishes bitter with an awesome malt backing. Great.

(22oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye) Pours medium brown with a ring of bubbles. Nose of honey, caramel, and sweet bread. Taste of toasted caramel, alcohol, raisins, rum, with a good oily slick finish, and a medium bitterness. Creamy too. Nice!

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with no head and a hazed golden body. Aroma of alcohol, caramel and dates. Taste is caramel, quite malty, alcohol and very nice overall (not very descriptive, I know). Low carbonation.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours copper with a very frothy beige head. Sweet malt aroma. Medium plus body with very mild carbonation. Very little heat. It’s sweet, but there’s some bitter to help balance. Sweet wins though. It is a very tasty ale, and can be quaffed rather than sipped. The aroma becomes strongly caramel, and it is incredibly tasty.

In the bottle, 2008 vintage. Pours orange amber with a large yellow beige head. Has a malty aroma consisting primarily of model car glue. Has the flavor of butternut squash. The beer leaves you with a nice chocolate finish and a really good extended hop bitterness on the back of the tongue. Medium think body and a slippery buttery mouth feel. I get lots of pineapple, coconut and rum flavors as well. I suspect this barleywine would really benefit from some aging.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small fast disappearing off-white head. Has a fruity malty dark fruit aroma with some hints of caramel and some hints of orange. Sweetish fruity malty dark fruit and caramel flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a sweetish malry warming dark fruit finish with hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

bomber - pours dark orange with faint haze; slight tan head in small bubbles on the edges; aromas of sugar, orange peels, bread and caramel; creamy texture and quite dry overall; spice, sugar and alcohol - but no heat; dig the thick, sugary nose; nothing outstanding, but very sold
