Commercial Description:
...created to aid in deciphering the puzzles along life's road, and interpreting signs in the voyages of the spirit. Brewed in homage to the wisdom of visionaries everywhere who blaze paths into uncharted territories. Our take on an India Pale Ale (IPA.) A deep golden amber ale with a rich up-front malty nose finishing with a big, hoppy bite. Dry-hopped to finish with a big fresh (Cascade) hop flavor. Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting yeast.

one dimensional bitter IPA. Very hoppy to the extent it was bought past expiry date from the notorious Beers of the World in Rochester, yet still refreshing. Comparable to bigger name microbrewers, pleasant surprise and my first Magic Hat, hopefully of many more. Some malt and orange cream for bonus, great citrus hoppy aroma.

Had this back in early 2007 before it was retired... Outstanding hazy/cloudy shad. Dark orange looks like cider. Head is short-lived, but does leave a bit o’lace. Pleasant aromatic hop smell. Decent malt smell to balance it. The malt is sweet, and the hops also have a sweet citrus. A bit weak, but friendly. Just a little musty. Malt dominates the hops, but both work well in concert. The hops are an accent; a true English IPA. Hint of apple? Just a bit of interesting tart sweetness. It’s a dry beer. Decent thickness, medium body. A little fizzy. Very drinkable. Has a sweetness that makes is a surprisingly nice summer beer.

Drank from a pint glass poured from a bottle. Nice hopiness, a little bit of citrus and smoothness in the mouthful.

One of the better efforts from MH. not as hoppy as many american IPA’s but still a firm hop character, and the usual MH smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel.

Excellent creamy and lasting head that leaves sticky lace. Dark golden or light amber in color; not quite clear. Impressive continual stream of micro-bubbles to the surface. Awesome aromas of fresh hops (definitely a dry-hopped beer). Not dominating like some IPA’s, there are also crisp malt notes. The blend is just about perfect. This is one inviting beer! Strong bitter flavors throughout the tasting profile. The malt sneaks in mid-sip, but is more the accompanist rather than the hop soloist. Solid flavor with wonderful subtle changes prevalent from sip to swallow. The aftertaste is pure dry hop that lingers a long time. Very full bodied for the style. I envision that this would float to the top of any IPA session series.

Bottle. Dark red color. Aroma of faint hops and some caramel malts. Taste has a bit of pine and some citrus hops. Simple.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with a white head. Big grassy floral notes up front, with a light spiciness. Light citrus and bready grain backbone with some malt.

Heard this one is on the way out so I figured I had better give a try before it is no more. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with about a finger’s worth of white head. Smell is definitely of citrusy hops. Taste is more of the same with some floral undertones. Nothing too deep and complex. A bit watery with not too much substance to it. The feel is crisp and tingly, rather nice. This is an alright brew. I usually am not big on drinking beer with food, but I don’t think I would have this any other way. Nothing outstanding but it was worth trying. Definitely not as strong and full of character as others of the style. Reviewed on: 04-12-2007
