33cl bottle - $8.99 at Mink’s Package Store in Marietta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours out a heavily clouded, dark golden body with a modestly-sized, white head that settles quickly.

Smell: Fresh flowery notes, bright citrus, orchard fruits, with a slight spiciness amongst the modest-scented base of pilsner and wheat maltiness given a big sip of white wine (touching on oak barrel a bit) while all the while there is a noted acetic edge to it.

Taste: Pilsner malt base, slight honeyed sweetness paired with a pleasant, buttery chardonnay. Light floral tones, lightly citric citrus fruits. Amply bitter. Sweetish pears, fresh apple. Yeast character is charmingly spicy, the brett character, well, it was surprisingly more restrained than I had anticipated. Some sweet hints of sugar and honey come forth, as does a perky acidity, but the crisp suds help keep the finish easy-breezy and relatively dry.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Sharp, curt, yet oddly subtle carbonation.

Overall: Quite enjoyable. I can safely say I bear no ill will toward the barrel-aged Stateside Saison.

11.2 oz bottle 2/21/13 (Binny’s Naperville)-40° in Tulip. Starting slowly oozing out of bottle after opening. Pours a murky yellow with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, brett, citrus, and wine. Taste of the same with the wine coming out on the back end. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and quite tasty.

P: An enormous eruption once the cap was popped. Luckily I had a glass close by. Beautiful cloudy orange gold body with a huge tower of white frothy head that reversed to a thin bubbly wake. Wet lacing along the edges leaving behind chunky yeast particles. S: Chardonnay, brett sourness, earthy yeast and oak shine at the forefront. Lemon zest, lime, grains of paradise, white grapes and a bouquet of peppery spices. Aroma is very similar to a sparkling white wine. T/M: Earthy yeast, providing a palate covering must, with pears, green apple peels, and white grapes. Aroma is funkier than the palate but much earthier and a lingering spicy profile that warms the back of your throat. Body is acidic, light and vivaciously carbonated. Finishes boozy and dry with bitter apple peels sprinkled with lemon juice. Creates a feel of being in a dusty attic. O: I gotta say I’m loving Stillwater so far. This is a great saison that really exploded with wine aroma and Brett funk. The taste was much more faint than the nose but still worked well. I would have liked more Brett funk flavor but all in all a success. Cheers!

Bottle with Adrienne, Carla and Cole. Pours lightly hazy gold yellow with white foam. Smells dry and slightly wheaty/peppery. Tastes very peppery with hints of lemongrass and wheat.

11.2 oz. bottle, served in a Bell’s tulip. Gushed slightly when I opened it (had been sitting in my fridge for a few weeks). A: Pours a very cloudy deep yellow with some orange hues mixed in. Pure white head, about one finger in height that sticks around for quite sometime. Nice sheets of lace follow me down the glass. S: Very reminiscent of a wild ale. A nice fruity sourness takes over with a slight bit of funk. Some oaky characteristics follow with a little white wine and green grape. T: Much more funky yeast in the taste than in the nose. Subtle tartness with a very fine oak. Light white wine flavor as well. It feels as though the barrel qualities and the funky yeast are trying to fight for dominance. Not blending all that well. M: Light to medium bodied with a nice crisp bite. Well carbonated with a dry funk finish. O: Smelt like a wild ale and drank like a saison. While it was good, the taste was a slight let down as it felt like the barrel qualities and the funk were tangling to be the front runner and neither really won. The two flavors sat side by side as opposed to together. Still a nice beer though. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-11-2011

Poured from a bottle. Beautiful golden, amber color. Aroma of spices, citrus, lemons. Taste is great. Lively carbonation, but not overpowering. I can taste the Chardonnay, but blended well with the saison flavors of citrus, lemons, spices. This is a great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A superbly drinkable rustic blonde saison with nice oak barrel presence without falling into vinous territory. Wow!
How: Bottle 11.2oz. Consumed probably fresh approximately 2 months after purchase. Bottle from my lovely teddy bear Paul
The look: Cloudy shining blonde-orange body topped by a long-lasting small white head leaving good lacings on the glas
In long: The white wine barrels are quite apparent in the aroma yet the very nice rustic yeast and overall character of the regular Stateside Saison still shines. Pretty impressive how the barrel aging was done without sacrificing the excellent regular base beer. Taste is full of fresh crunchy cereals, dry wood, sawdust, dry lemon skin, pineapples, crackers, floral notes, strong farmhouse rustic character bordering clean pedio funkiness. Basically a great beer, quite different from the regular Stateside Saison and just as good if not better. And brewers need to make more complex Saison beers because *I* love them, and until there’s an episode of Mythbusters that proves I’m not the center of the universe I’ll continue believing it.

330 ml bottle from michael-pollack- thanks again, Pollack! Gusher alert, as soon as the cap is popped halfway. Eventually settles down and pours a hazed gold with a small white head and visible yeast sediment at the bottom. Aroma of chardonnay, oak, funk, citrus, peach, pear, apricot, herbs and peppery spices. Flavor of chardonnay, peaches, sweet malts, herbs, and pepper. Doesn’t seem to have the complexity of the aroma, but just as good nonetheless. Light-bodied, with medium-high carbonation and a crisp and tart mouthfeel that becomes more funky as it goes on. Another classic from Stillwater.

Bottle to glass. Looks good; orange with nice carbonation and lacing. Smells pretty good; you can pick up the Chardonnay barrels. Way overpriced for the $10+ price tag for a 12 oz beer. End of story.

Rating #1600. At blind tiger. Bottle pour hazy golden pour with white head. Aroma is very funky, Chardonnay, oak and citrus notes. Flavor is oak, vanilla, with Citrus and hop tones almost muted, still outstanding.
