DarkElf (3497) - La Jolla, California, USA - APR 9, 2019UPDATED: APR 9, 2019 08-Apr-19 (22 oz bottle: $3.95 at Belmont Station in Portland, OR)
Well aged, unintentionally, but this Sweet Stout pours a medium-dark brown body with a thin, tan head that dissipates quickly. The nose offers plenty of milk chocolate, cocoa, and toasted bread. On the palate, this beer is completely focused on sweet cocoa and chocolate candy bar, showing medium-plus to medium-high sweetness with minimal roast bitterness. The beer is full bodied and pretty rich, with light-medium carbonation and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Overall, it's not complex, but it's very tasty and enjoyable, and then throw in the 10+ years of cellaring, pretty damn solid beer!
riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 19, 2010Oxidized nose, but definitely sweet stout characteristics. Some light roast, oatmeal, chocolate, and earth. Solid nose all things considered, could only imagine this fresh. Darker cola brown pour, thinnish beige head. Roast, chocolate, oats, light lingering earth, still some sweetness throughout. Decent bitterness too. Oxidized, but not too bad, this held up rather well considering how old it is. Thinned out a little body wise, but a decent lingering mouthfeel and a very pleasant surprise.
after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 19, 201022. thanks alex! score! pours crystal clear and nearly black with a creamy tan head that fades quickly. big chocolatey nose with undertones of black bread and a little coffee. creamy medium body with soft carb. chocolate, coffee, cocoa, and black bread on the mid palate. mild dark chocolate finish.
bvc (1244) - Washington, USA - MAR 19, 201022oz bottle dug out of the great cellar of riversideak. Pours a super dark cola brown with a thin ring of a tan head. Cardboard, carob, pepper, raisins...quite a bit of oxidation. Not as heavily oxidized in flavor as the nose suggests. Earthy tobacco and pepper, wet cardboard, cocoa, slight coffee. You know, this is way past it’s prime but this has held up well enough and you can tell this is a well made beer.
AmEricanbrew (9085) - Oaklatx, Louisiana, USA - FEB 7, 2008Dark brown with a tan head. Very nice smell of milk chocolate and roasted grains. Medium body and smooth. Taste is smooth oatmeal with mocha. Not overly sweet or bitter. The best oatmeal stout i’ve had in a long time. 31906
Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 26, 2007Thanks to my mn Jeff F. for a taste of this cellared beauty!--Poured a deep opaque black body with a wonderfully fluffy creamy off-white head. Nose of bold coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts. Rich, warm mouth feel with well-maintained carbonation. Vibrant earthy coffee flavor. Creamy, like chocolate milk and espresso. Amazing beer! Love it!

sweet vinous roasted malt aroma, super creamy body, rich chocolate flavor, the dark malts have mutated into a nice vineous quality with some good vanilla notes, nice sweetness, a touch of bitterness in the finish, mellowed into something very nice and of imperial quality

Nice aroma of coffee and chocoalte that leans toward the roastier side rather than the sweet side. Very defined aroma though not intensely concentrated. Lovely smelling beer. Pours a muddy river water brown, but settle a bit darker, approaching black. The head compresses down to a creamy thumb thick mocha color. I’ve had Imperial stouts that were 8% abv and showed the alcohol much more than this does. Rich coffee, burtn malt, cocoa powder and dark chocolate lay into the tastebuds right fromt he start and never let up. Nice mouthfeel. creamy and soft with a pleasant dry finish that leaves mostly coffee flavors lingering on the tongue. Nice beer.
Dickinsonbeer (5073) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - SEP 12, 2006Pours a deep dark brown almost black, high carbonation, and a fluffy tan head. Aroma is roasty and sweet, light cofee, some chocolate and very light herbal hops. Light chocolate, light roasted malt, some caramel sweetness. Body doesnt seem to hold up despite the high alcohol level. Ok overall.
goldtwins (4319) - Nesconset, New York, USA - SEP 10, 2006Poured a very dark brown color with a beige head. Big rsweet roasted malt aroma with notes of old coffee grinds. Roasted malt flavor that happened to be tasty bbut not much else going on. A little on the boring side.
