Probably mislabeled by ratebeer as this appears closer to the label definition of amber/island style than pale. Blah color, not much nose, some malted notes + wood. Nutty taste, some malt, dough, okay. BillKismet (2055), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 3, 2010 Amber brew with a slight head. Caramel and roasty nose with finger licks of coffee. Roast coffee and caramel endow this brew with a sturdy backbone. Medium-bodied and fairly toasty. A solid amber. puzzl (2794), New York, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 23, 2010 Bottle in Kauai. Very dull, straight forward brew. More of a blonde than an APA, as there is pretty much no hop definition here. Mild cookie, white bread flavors, with a little bit of residual sweetness. danielcurtis81 (956), San Diego, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 15, 2010 Served from a 12 oz bottle from The Liquor Collection in HI. The appearance is a slightly hazy golden amber with a small white head. The nose is refreshing with sweet malts and some spice. The flavors are a bit off. Some oxidation for sure with the slight cardboard. Some aged hops as well. Sadley my bottle was a little oxidized(at least I hope). Why did I have to get suckered in to completing my 6 pack and saving a $1 (2.7%). Ron (1082), Rochester, New York, USA

Aroma is of light caramel & roasted malt mix with small hop hints. Taste is roasted malt with just a bit of hop bitterness. PorterPounder (3188), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 14, 2009 Well, I’m pretty sure this ISN’T Keoki Sunset; Hawai’i Nui’s Sunset Amber is an, er, amber ale.
Since I can’t rate it under that name, I can report that Keoki isn’t around any more. Tried to find the brewery in Lihue, and the only Keoki where the brewery used to be is a plate-lunch place.
Anyway, the amber ale has an intriguing nose, but it doesn’t get better from there. Interesting coffee notes, but the flavor isn’t complex or nuanced. Perfectly quaffable, given the temperatures, but not terribly noteworthy. Snojerk321 (2208), San Diego, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2009 Tap at LuLu’s in Kihei. Pours a clear light amber color with a a 1 finger thick beige head, spotty lacing. The nose was a little nutty with some cereal grains and light hops mixed in. Finish was fairly watery, nothing tho seek out if you’re in Hawaii.
