Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Poured a clear effervescent golden with a large fizzy/frothy white head. Strong aroma of pine and grapefruit hops with a touch of sweetness. Flavor is quite bitter with some pink grapefruit citrus coming through with a touch of pine, some dry toffee. A bit of butter shows up in the mouthfeel, which detracts a bit from the score. Overall finishes dry with some toffee. Must give it credit for showing very little of the 7% alcohol. Overall quite standard and far from mind-blowing, but solid and decent.

Pours a very hazy blonde with a small head, really nothing to look at here. The aroma is caramel with pine and some citrus rind. The flavor is lots of grapefruit & caramel, the whole thing is a little overly sweet but it does grow on you over time.

12 ounce bottle at the Beerhive. Pours a dark copper color with a medium white foamy head. A nice hoppy nose, spicy and citrus. The taste is smooth, easy, earthy, lots of spicy hops, light citrus, lots of caramel malts. Nice.

Bottle. Pours a bright orangey amber with a small white head. Aroma is hops (citrus, floral, spice) and caramel malt. Flavor is well balanced: citrusy hops and rich, sweet malt. Up front the hops are very flavorful; the finish, however, is quite bitter. A good IPA, maltier than most.

Poured an almost opaque copper with little to no head (a very thin off white). The pour was the only high point of this brew. The aroma was like stale tea with just a hint of hops. The taste was a very weak mix of tea, some hint of hops and maybe a note of spice. Very thin body. No after taste... a first for me. I do not understand why this is called an IPA. Nothing special at all about this brew.

From a bottle poured a copper color with a fair amount of head. Light hoppy flavor with a quick finish.

Beautiful hazy orange color. Very thick and long-lasting head. Despite the haze there is still a bit of clarity through the glass. A decent amount of lace. Looks extremely appetizing. Sweet aromatic hops with just a hint of bitterness at the end. Some yeast flavor, creates a nice base. The hops positively overpower. Has a mild-to-strong alcohol smell. Excellent hop flavor, with lots of fruity characteristics (orange?). The yeast is quite apparent. The hops are bitter, but mellow out in the aftertaste... a little. Medium thickness, it seems like the yeast was really piled on. The hops stick around for a while after it’s down the gullet. The hops are very bitter which may prevent repeats. It’s a good "one-off" though. A solid IPA.

pours a light brown hue with a tan head. Taste of floral hops although pretty subtle and not as bitter as I was expecting. Tasted kind of flat. Not my favorite IPA 12 oz. bottle
