I was a little surprised at the aroma....not that it was bad, but not as much as I would expect. This is a really well balanced beer. I probably had it at about 55 degrees and nothing was crazily overwhelming. Just a a really good roasty taste...I had the pre conceived notion that it might SCREAM coffee, but was pleasantly surprised. Very long finish and I feel the coffee turns a little nutty at the end. It’s got a great reputation and it’s deserved. Overml01 (97), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 20, 2010 Bottle tasting at work. I had the sublime pleasure of tasting BS and KBS right next to each other... what a treat!
The breakfast Stout has a wonderful flavor profile with a palate that’s just a touch too thin. The head is a wnderful amber brown with amazing retention and the aroma fills the nose with roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and caramel. An amazing product that was just umlucky enough to go up against its big brother today. BS is a MUST try, but wait til you get ahold of KBS! osu97gp (196), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2010 Pours black with a thin brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and slight alcohol. Flavor hits right away with a very strong coffee flavor that slowly dissapates into chocolate and eventually moves to a mix of coffee and roasted malts. I’m not a huge fan of coffee, but this beer is a nice blend of chocolate and coffee flavors. Ygberg (134), Sweden

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 17, 2010 12oz bottle. Smell of Intense dark roasted, slightly bitter, coffee aroma. Dark baker’s chocolate. A slight milky creaminess in the nose.So Creamy, I smelled it every sip I took. Black pour. No highlights. Dark tan head was thick and creamy, but dissipated fairly quickly. Good lacing. A lot of the flavors from the nose return in the flavor. Coffee, cocoa, a little milky sweetness. Full bodied and creamy. Moderate carbonation. Slight astringency on sides of mouth. Some alcohol warmth in back of the mouth. One of my top Stouts.....Only if Young’s Oatmeal Stout was still available.
