Commercial Description:
An American Porter, black in color. Draws a creamy tan head, which yeilds a chocolate malty aroma blended with citrus-like aroma of American hops. This ale penetrates your palate with flavors of caramels, dark chocolates, nuts and hops.

The menu listed this as 5.9% ABV. Pours black with brown highlights and a great nitro head. The aroma is creamy caramel and chocolate. The body is medium with a naturally creamy mouthfeel. Nice notes of caramel and toffee carry the body, with light hints of vanilla and baker’s chocolate. Really solid example.

Porter on nitro-tap at the brewery. Deep brown colour. Sourish, as part of the style. Light body. 5.9% was this batch.Molasses, some spices. Well malted, and drinkable. Creaminess, roastiness, bittersweet chocolate, coffee nuttiness, a fine porter. Drying finish.

Bottle: Black coffee in color, huge light beige head, very foamy, fairly good retention, splotchy lacing.   Cocoa and chocolate nose, slight sweet & sour fruitiness.   Perhaps a bit of lactose as well.   Sweet and tart fruitiness is quite strong with this one, with underlying bittersweet cocoa, chocolate, and roasted malts.   Not a robust porter, but instead one with a lactose like sourness (minor) and fruitskin like sweetness.   Fairly nice body, mouthfeel is moderate.   Tangy finish, fairly malty, bittersweet cocoa and chocolate malts linger.   Not bad!   Thanks Sully for the bottle!

(Rating# 519)

Roasted malt aroma. Pours a rich brown. There was a souness upfront, some roasted malts and brown sugar.

Mondial de la Bière de Montréal; Black dark porter, aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste is toffee with fruity tint. Good porter, but not in my top 3.

Bu au Mondial de la Bière 06. Ruby foncée, assé bon collet. Arome de malte rôti légé, un peu végétal. Goût végétal assé plaisant.

On tap at Ashley’s in Ann Arbor.

Deep black with virtually no head. The aroma is apricot, peaches, and chocolate caramel. The flavor is sweet and fruity and pumpernickel-chocolately, like Zingermans chocolate cherry bread; the finish is slightly chalky and amply hopped to provide a lovely bitter conclusion. This one goes down quickly, easily, enjoyably, sweet but not heavy, a lovely light dessert.

Despite the stupid name, I’m impressed with this one.
