eduardovl (1832) - SWITZERLAND - OCT 14, 2014
330 ml bottle poured in a chalice. The beer description is: "This hand made Ale is brewed with the very finest ingredients, great care and respect. The Ale is matured in oak Whisky casks which creates a unique, aromatic, exceptional flavour." Cask references: Type: Hogshead Wood: Bourbon Oak Whisky: Scotch Malt Vintage: 1974 Age: 35 years Region: Speyside (57* 40’ N / 2* 58’ W) A: Pours a clear dark amber almost brown color with a light and big beige head that dissipates quickly leaving a lot of lacings. A small beige layer remains for long S: Intense perfume of sweet malts, wood and whisky. Bit candy and fruity with hints of grapes. Hints of liquor and alcohol too, in the end T: Follows the nose: Sweet malts, whisky, dark fruits, cask. The taste of wood is a really must. Quite impressive. Low bitterness. Moderate sweetness. Aftertaste is a bit sour, more than the 10 and 21 versions M: Medium to light body. Low carbonation. A little bit molasses. Low ABV helps to improve its drinkability O: Great beer. One of the best swiss beers I’ve ever had [ BA Review @ 12/17/2011 ]

Bottle at a ChrisO tasting - London. Pours clearish ruby with a moderate, white foam head. Rish nose of caramel, toasty bread and hints of ripe fruits. Big sweet flavor with lots of doughy bread and caramel, along with some toffee, light leafy bitterness and overripe fruits. Medium bodied with average, smooth carbonation. Sticky sweet finish with toasty sugars, rich bread and toffee. OK.

Bottle from Au Grain D’Orge, Crissier
Dark brown color, with medium sized creamy head. Creamy aroma of chocolate and distillate. The malt and caramel flavor of the beer is quite good, although it has a light liquorish trace; the alcohol can be perceived beyond expectations. In this version, the chocolate appears more.
