UPDATED: DEC 16, 2023 Pours a reddish chestnut color with a slightly pink soapy head. Aroma of tart, funky cherry with some notes of almond. Tart cherry flavor with notes of lactose and almond. Really nice.

dojken (1912) - SWEDEN - DEC 24, 2022
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2022 Flarra julen 2022 hos Totte o Frida. Doftar jordgubbs-saftsås. Smakar fräsht o friskt med tanke på att ölen är från 2016. Mycket jordgubb o ris a la malta. Faktiskt riktigt god! Annorlunda men god.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2020 March 20th, 2016 - $8.99 from the local store, this Mikkeller has been sitting in storage for awhile, but I am a little worried about how it fared. The label is scuffed, suggesting some rough and tumble treatment while I was away, and the pour confirms my worst fears: a flat pour, which makes the yeast components look like chunks in a poorly cooked chowder. The nose still has a firm cherry and almond nose, especially chopped almonds. It conjures clear memories of eating almonds daily on a ketogenic diet. And the fruitier side is more like a jam than fresh fruit flesh. But the body has as flat as it looked, and makes this beer taste more like a fruit juice. There's ghosts of cranberry and cherry flavors and a long aftertaste, but the almond has disappeared, probably when the effervescence did.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2020 This is a backlog rating from 2012 from a bottle shared by Tmoney99, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time, work and/or family. Words to describe this beer are tart dark fruits, pale malts, some candied cherries, strawberries, earthy, better than the previous version but not something to seek out.

beer-yum (3705) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - APR 14, 2019
UPDATED: APR 14, 2019 Restrained funky tart aroma in a reddish copper pour. Hard to fault taste has a milky smooth nuttiness that complements the tart fruit body perfectly. One could get in big trouble drinking this.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2019 Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 29B). Bottle 75 cl - Batch unknown (BBF 29/08/20). AROMA: medium sweet and tart aroma with notes of cherries. faint almond background and alcohol notes. APPEARANCE: light to amber color and slightly hazy. large ivory head with good retention. FLAVOR: similar to the aroma with initial medium notes of sweet cherries and a slightly sweet malt background. follows a medium to medium-high bitterness with a slightly dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium body with a slightly velvety body. medium to medium-high carbonation. OVERALL: an interesting beer with an assertive cherry presence. unable to detect almonds and vanilla.

llucmaduell (519) - barcelona, SPAIN - FEB 10, 2019
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2019 I tasted this beer at the local Mikkeler in Barcelona. I had a double sensation. That it had a very good front beer, complex and with a very long route. Many smells in the nose and many tastes in the mouth. But at the same time I missed a bit of forcefulness.
