Commercial Description:
Coopers Sparkling Ale is brewed naturally by the centuries-old top fermentation method just as it was in the beginning by Thomas Cooper. This beer displays a solid head and a distinctive, full-bodied flavour enhanced by a soft, fruity character and the sediment which gives it a cloudy appearance.

375ml Bottle: Pours orange and cloudy, lots of nice sediment, amazing marshmallow rolling white head on top. Aroma is sour lemon, yeast, caramel and very malty. More hops than expected in the first sip, bready, a black peppery bite, caramel. It’s amusing to me as I’ve had many a homebrew made with their malt extract but this is my first taste of their beer, which not surprisingly tastes a lot like the homebrew I’ve had. :)

Longneck bottle poured into a small tulip glass. Light orange, brownish colour, hazy, with almost no head and visible particles of sediment. Aroma is not very intense, predominantly fruity. Mouthfeel is refreshing and lively with good carbonation. Surprisingly different beer, very difficult to describe. Might taste like apples, lemons (or anything citric whatsoever), caramel, banana, bubble gum... I don’t know. Anyway, very drinkable and fun. I like this beer a lot!

Hazy light golden colour with a minimal white head. Breay, or yeasty aroma with a fruity tocuh. Pleasant falvour, though quite light. Touches of citrus. Hangs around for a while. Not bad - nothing compared to the pale ale.

On tap at The Australian...lovely golden orange with a smallish-medium white head. Has a bit of citrus on the nose and tastes the same with some floral notes. Goes down incredibly smooth, very good drinking beer.

Pours a deep golden body that is hazy with particulates a lacing off-white head. Aromas of grass, yeast, some grain. Flavor is grassy, yeasty, zesty. Nice body. Fading dry palate.

Bottle: Poured a golden color with a medium head. Very similar to the pale ale by Cooper’s. Aroma has a sweet cereal smell. Taste is pleasant, balanced. Like the pale ale it is a good thirst quencher.

375ml bottle poured into a nonic pint glass... Cloudy pale gold body, with a nice white head. Pretty good head retention and lacing. Plenty of carbonation. To be honest, the aroma didn’t really impress me. Dry malts, a faint hint of citrus and apple notes. Very little caramel undertones. But what a pleasant surprise in the flavour! It starts out with some light, and mildly sweet, maltiness, followed by some prominent apple and lemon-like notes. A touch of tartness, and some pleasant dry bitterness in the aftertaste. Light-to-medium body to it. Very crisp, courtesy of the intense carbonation. Quite pleasant on the palate all in all. Goes down very well, the carbonation only enhances the drinkability. Very light and refreshing, yet flavourful and interesting enough! Verdict: I’m certainly glad I tried this one, I was a little sceptical of it, but in the end it impressed me. It’s definitely a recommendation.
