The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

Appearance- solid cola black in colour with thick sandy brown foam. Aromas- Roasted aroma, salty smoked salmon with an underlying sweet vanilla. Palate- silky smooth, full bodied but light on the tongue. Taste- smokey roasted nuts, salmon, dark chocolate, overall- a complex and great tasting beer, really glad I tried and would happily drink again- had this for an end of 2nd year (uni) treat and it’s been worth the wait.

Almost jet black color (torch bearly shines through) with nice thick brown foam. Aromas of smoked salmon, smoked carp, pepers and spices used in meat and fish? With notes of smooth dark malts, roasted nuts, dry sweet seaweed and light notes of wood, campfire smoke and charcoal. Palate, full body, creamy smooth texture leaving nice smoked dark malts and woody finish. Taste, smooth sweet of wood smoke, creamy dark malts, then develops into more salty dry wood taste. Overall, really nice, never smelled a beer like this, loved it! Was expencive but really worth it, would have it again and do recomend!

Bottle 2012 shared thanks to Mrk. Black with small light brown head. Lots of smoke, BBQ, ash, espresso, cocoa beans, dark chocolate, dried chilies but without the burn, earthy, dried leaves. Light sweet and under medium bitter. Medium bodied with slick feel. Very nice.

Dark-brown, tar like color with a beige head. Interesting smell of smoked salmon and roast. Light, easy-to-drink beer with a intense smokey & coffee-chocolate aroma and a stout note. Interesting beer indeed, would try it again, but its price is quite high :D

2015 vintage. Pours dark as a starless night. Normal head volume, outstanding lacing and world class retention. Nearly world class nose of rich smoked malt that delivers a nice campfire bacon aroma. Had it been a bit more intense, it would have achieved world class status. Underneath roll light roast, chocolate and hop notes. Heavy medium body with a smooth and somewhat creamy texture. World class carbonation that provides a burst in the middle and a finely bubbled prickly finish. The body / carbonation ratio is perfect and really allows the flavor to open up. The flavor profile is quite outstanding. Surprisingly, the smoked malt delivers a subdued campfire bacon flavor, not the delicious intensity of Schlenkerla. In other words, this one is balanced better. This balance, or lack of smoke intensity, allows the other flavors to shine. Light bitter bakers chocolate, hints of molasses and a light hop spiciness appear from the middle on. Bitterness is light and has both a hop and roast character. As middle bitterness begins to fade, sweetness (caramel, molasses) maximizes and smoked malt comes to the forefront. It delivers a slight campfire bacon flavor but is mostly oak smoke. The finish is slow sweet fade that leaves a lingering oak smoke and just a hint of dryness.
