Draft pint at the brewpub.Standard look, black with firm white top. Smooth like most stouts around here, but with a nice extra bitter edge. Slightly ashy. (#3675, 9/16/2009)

Nice thick, creamy look. Had a flavor that was fruiter than most stout but still rather bitter and roasted. Had a lingering finish. Also went off quickly.

[2143-20090515] Tap. Faint fruity dark chocolate aroma. Black body with a thick long-lasting creamy tan head. Coffee grounds and sweet chocolate notes in the flavour with lots of yeast and mild plastic. Full body. Nice and stouty.

2009-05-15. Black body with a smooth khaki brown head. Flavour is pleasant, mild bitter roast throughout, sweet chocolate touches up front fade out. Aroma is surprisingly mild primarily showing very mild roast malt. Smooth creamy palate is lighter than I would prefer, but weightier than a Guinness. (3+) Decent stout. On tap at the brewpub.

Cask-conditioned at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol 19/03/09. Opaque black in colour, with a big, frothy, dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and milk chocolate. Light mouth feel, with plenty of coffee flavour, some caramel, and the lactic edge mentioned by others in the finish. Enjoyable.
