Commercial Description:
Great Divide's mantra is that real fruit makes real beer, so Great Divide ferments Wild Raspberry Ale with hundreds of pounds of real red and black raspberries. Wild Raspberry Ale is a truly effervescent, ruby red ale that achieves the almost impossible balance between malted barley and tart raspberry fruitiness. Its naturally tart character makes Wild Raspberry the ultimate accompaniment to spicy Mexican food or on its own as a stand-alone session beer.

Red pour with no head. Looks like raspberry juice. Raspberry aroma with a little wheat. Sweet raspberry flavor. Thats a lot of raspberry. Would make a good chic drink.

12oz bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy amber color with lots of reddish tones and a massive foamy white head that settles quickly. Aroma is sweet raspberries, overripe fruit, caramel, light funk. Flavor is sweet and slightly sour, ripe fresh fruit, light funk, hints of maltiness. Light to medium body with a fruity finish.

Bottle poured into a trappist glass produced a dark amber body with medium off-white head. Fruity/yeasty aroma with flavors of raspberry and some other citrus notes.

Unfortunately there is almost no aroma, slight notes of berry sweetness. The appearance is ruby red, but borderline amber. The flavor starts with tart raspberries, but then drops to a very bland ale. It’s not awful at least.

Pours a reddish brown color with a small foamy head. Notes of burnt toast, raspberries, and caramel. Weak boring and girly. This beer is an emo kid.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear, ruby colored body with a thin, pinkish beige head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is a thin malty sweetness and a band-aid, dentist’s office smell. A light berry tartness and some honey bread. Flavor is better in that it doesn’t taste like a dentist’s office, but is still fairly boring. Tastes like raspberry jelly on buttery toast. A thin malty sweetness with a touch of tart fruit. Some honey is present as this finishes somewhat dry and malty with a moderate length aftertaste. Medium body, smooth, and a light carbonation. Overall, a boring, fruity and malty ale. Blah...
