COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacobís wash, weíve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! Itís in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

Pours a solid black with a brown head and lacing. It has lots of rich bourbon in the aroma, along with some chocolate and alcohol. The flavor is strong bourbon and alcohol up front with. A sweet malt and coffee background leading to a great coffee and cocoa finish over a smooth, heavy body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour. Jet black with minimumal tan head. Boozy aroma. This beer is very smooth with caramel, vanilla bean, and a little mocha. Definitely tasting the bourbon as well. Rich, chocolate bourbon finish. For a beer this high in abv its extremely drinkable and smooth. A must try beer.

Bottle (2014, 14.83& ABV) poured into a Belgian snifter. Pours jet black with an oily consistency. Half a finger of tan head that fades into a ring. Aromas of bourbon, dark chocolate, roast. Tasting notes of dark fruit, bourbon, dark chocolate. Full body with a warm and dry finish. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. Maybe my palate has developed but I enjoyed last yearís release much more.

This beer is an opaque black color with a large brown head that fades somewhat quickly, and the aroma blends dark chocolate, bourbon, roasted malts, and light caramel notes. The taste has a heavy boozy character alongside a moderate level of umami and a slight sweetness and slight roasty bitterness, and the umami, roastiness, and booze linger through the dry finish. The mouthfeel fuses a full body, oily texture, and low to no carbonation.

Bourbon Bourbon Bourbon!!! Upon cracking the cap off this beauty, there was instant hits of bourbon, toffee, Raisins, oak, molasses sweet to the nose, poured oil black with a thin tan head. Glug glug glug it went into a snifter. I wanted flavor... I got flavor!! Very bold indeed. Upon first sip I got... you guessed it BOURBON!! Then roasy malty choco fruity sugary sticky goodness as I sipped and sipped. Had to go back for more!! Im sure it was very hot as it was only bottle three months prior to cracking. Cellared some to taste its flavor journey for years to come.

Pours thick black with very nice espresso head, thick syrupy lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon - very similar nose to BCS. Taste follows suit as almost identical to BCS - dark chocolate and bourbon, molasses, bitter dark roasted malt in the finish. Essentially a BCS clone which is not a bad thing, but also not original. Much better head than BCS at least.

Pours motor oil black with a small dark tan / burnt orange head. The aroma has caramel, roast, bourbon, vanilla, licorice, booze, coconut, oak and light char. It has a full rich body with mild flowing carbonation. The flavor starts with dark caramel, cocoa, vanilla, bourbon, heavy roast, earthiness and alcohol. The finish show some char, sweetness, tart apple and anise. Really nice imperial stout.

Wow. Motor oil black pour. Tan head the dissipates rather quickly. Not surprising as itís 15% ABV. Super thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Aroma is vanilla, toasted oats, bourbon. Taste is dark chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, a little toastiness, and just pure awesomeness.

Bottle. Very black, viscous. Rich aroma, almond, cocoa, roast malt, faint bourbon alcohol, a tad sweet for my taste. Huge flavors. Chocolate, tootsie roll, sweet in the beginning, molasses, becomes bitter and roasty in the middle. The bourbon flavors come and go throughout but especially in the finish where the alcohol first becomes noticeable. Reminds me of a madeira with burned, roast notes on top. A dessert beer perhaps, awesome.
