COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ControversiALE, FKA Hangin’ Frank, is a tribute to Simcoe hops. Simcoe hops are extremely sought after and limited, so Short’s is excited to share this brew with Michigan craft beer lovers every spring. The earthy, citrus and pine-laced aroma is instantly delectable. A large amount of toasted grains and high alpha hops form a perfect union that creates the sensation of toasted sourdough covered with grapefruit hop marmalade. While this beer is hopped like IPA, it drinks like Pale Ale. The light, refreshing qualities of this beer make it perfect for springtime.

Shag (3602) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - JUN 21, 2022
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2022 A copper color with a white head. The aroma contains some caramel, citrus, and herbal notes. This has an English IPA feel right from the start. The flavor is rather bitter with some citrus but a nice malt backbone with some caramel and biscuit flavors. Not tasted a beer like this in a while. Overall enjoyable.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2019 I have such a hard time finding beers that have enough flavor but also aren't too over the top with the hops. So far I'm really liking this one

zoucrew102 (5774) - - JUL 4, 2019
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2019 Can. Earthy hop aroma with notes of caramel malt, dank grapefruit citrus and pine resiny hops. Pours clear copper colored with a large off white head that has excellent retention and some soap-lime lacing. Starts with earthy hop and caramel malt flavors. Finishes quite dry with dank grapefruit and bitter pine resiny hop flavors. Pretty nice, but a touch bitter at the end.

onceblind (18778) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 25, 2019
UPDATED: MAY 25, 2019 Clear copper color with a thick foamy white head. Nice biscuity copper malty nose with a touch of toffee and balanced bitterness underneath. Smooth flavor that’s toffee’d and toasty and semisweet with a light noble hoppy undertone. Very English IPA, balanced but malty and a touch bready. Super nice.

Bottle, Ann Arbor, MI. Amber, slight haze. Veggie resin aroma. Caramel pine flavour. Long peppery finish.

12oz bottle. Filtered amber-orange-brown body. Foamy off white head. Oily, resinous hop character. Pretty antiquated, unexceptional stuff. The aroma is completely undesirable. Resinous, burnt, oily piney hop tones. Mellow NW citrus tones. Drinkable, but completely unimpressive for an IPA in 2017.

Bottled on: 3/25/2016. Rated on 2/8/2017. Aromas of peaches and iced tea and lemon. Taste is caramel, lemon, peach, and iced tea. Rating is not really fair due to age of beer. Will rate again with a fresher beer.

FROTHINGSLOSH (15634) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 21, 2017
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky copper color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy with pine and pepper. The flavor was sweet and tangy with pine, cracker and black pepper. Long finish. Medium body. Solid
