Nice dark brown pour with a decent gray head. Aroma is chocolate and powdered cocoa. A sweet brownie flavor with a floral counterpoint. Great mouthfeel, not thin as too many porters lean to IMO. A nice mocha like finish without the coffee or roast element. A damn fine porter. Ap-4 ar-7 tas-8 pal-5 ov-18

From the my favorite brewpub in Nashville, and maybe the state. Pours a dark brown red. I think what some people are failing to realize that this beer is a BROWN PORTER! Why knock a beer for something it’s not supposed to be? Very thin head. Medium coffee aroma. Subtle flavors of coffee and bitter chocolate, but stronger in hazelnut and sweetness. Just the right touch of hops to keep this from being to aggressive and entering American or Robust Porter territory. Medium to medium light body. Clean finish and very easy to drink. This is a solid session porter, and perhaps a good example for getting a newbie into the style. Michael Jackson has this beer in his Ultimate Beer Guide, and deservingly so. They need to bottle this stuff. Their strongest house beer on tap.

Tasted 4/18/09. Schlafly’s Repeal of Prohibition Festival. Dark brown and filtered. Moldy beige head. Aromas are toasty and toffee with an odd rubbery note. Full bodied and toasty. Nice malts and a good roast. Mild smokey aspect, but the toffee permeates. Decent.

22oz bottle from Sean (illinismitty), Thanks! Best by date of 7/1/06 - consumed 07/20/2006. Pours out a dark brown reddish color with a thick creamy tan head. Smell is chocolate and full of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is thin and sweet. Refreshing, slightly watered down. Full of chocolate and coffee. Very nice, they should bottle this more, perhaps condition it too. Thanks Mr Lugauns

growler. Pours a rich dark red with a thin white head. Malty and roasty in the nose. Tastes like coffe and some mild milky sweetness. The flavor is a little one-dimensional, but it’s a good flavor. This is my favorite TN brew thus far.
