The aroma is sweet, shows caramel, some citrus and light hops. The flavor is sweet, a tad thin, fairly one dimensional, light hops that add a mild bitterness. Finishes easy. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 30, 2003 Pours clear amber with a moderate white diminishing head. Has a light hop aroma with a bit of citrus. Flavor is nice with mild hops but seems a bit too crisp and finishes dry. Good overall though. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Tap. Transparent and magnifying pale gold in color with a diamond shaped white ice sheaf for the head. Starch, cotton, linen, burlap and raw potatoes protrude mostly up the nose. Sweet, starchy flavor reiterations hark on lemon bread heels and sweet rolls. Musky bite hints at corn stalks and crunchy corn flakes. Lemon titters amidst baguette crust haunches. Cleanly tongue feel, free of debris, so curiosity meanders towards the starchy potato chip bag taste. Some sugary sweet corn in the finish. Shag (1927), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 21, 2003 Aroma is hoppy and fruity. Flavor is slighty sour fruit, oranges, and hops. This beer really balances out the malt and hops nicely. This is as good if not a better American Pale Ale than Sierra Nevada to me, and that says something.
