UPDATED: MAY 11, 2023 Bottled. Amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is red wine, some sweet malts, a bit earthy elements. Flavour is very sweet burnt sugary, syrup, some malts as well as dried fruits with some nectary and fruity elements. So sweet it made you grin. Good dessert beer in small amounts.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2022 #5129 3.5 years in archive. Lightly cloudy, deep copper, minimal beige head. Aged aroma - a bit cheesy; raisins, dates, figs, dried fruit, honey, barrel. Taste is strongly sweet, lightly bitter, a bit tart, very rich, same as aroma, nice hints of brandy and other noble alcohol. Full body, average carbonation. Dessert.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2022 Bottle 0.2l from our archive, half and three years aged. Lightly cloudy, copper colored. AROMA- nice aged character, wooden barrel, touch of cheese, brandy, raisins, honey sweet, dried cherry. FLAVOR- quite sweet, warming, the same as aroma. Fuller bodied. Great one.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2019 A thin bottle bought in Prague. A medium body boozy sugar caramel some sticky notes. Nice.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2019 Charakterystyczna butelka 200ml pite w domu. Piwo ciemnobursztynowe z delikatną obrączką piany. Aromat przypomina wyraźnie miód pitny z delikatnym alkoholem, w tle suszone owoce na kompot Bożonarodzeniowy. W smaku słodkie rodzynki z miodem . Bardzo delikatne, ziołowo miodowe na podniebieniu, wspaniałe piwo przełamujące granice tego co uważamy za piwo.

Kolor: bursztynowy, herbaciany, klarowny. Piana: prawie nie występuje, po nalaniu szczątkowa warstwa, po zamieszaniu powstaje cienka warstwa. Zapach: intensywny i bogaty, nuty ciemnych owoców, winne, bardzo kojarzy się aromatami bimbru, śliwowicy, alkohol wyczuwalny, ale w nienachalny sposób, przyjemny. Smak: bardzo pełne, słodkie, również nuty ciemnych owoców, miodu, lekkie nuty słodowe, karmelowe, opiekane, delikatna goryczka alkoholowa, alkohol wyczuwalny dopiero przez rozgrzewanie w żołądku. Wysycenie: bardzo niskie.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2016 Aromat: Słodki, likierowy, wyraźnie karmelowy z delikatną nutą alkoholu. Skojarzenia z miodem pitnym, rodzynkami i suszonymi owocami. Wygląd: Ciemno bursztynowe, z delikatną obręczą piany. Smak: Zasadniczo aromat przygotował nas na to jaki będzie smak - wysoka słodycz, karmel, miód, rodzynki, suszone owoce. Przez całą degustację tego piwa miałem nieodparte wrażenie, że mam do czynienia nie z piwem, lecz z tokajem lub miodem pitnym. Goryczka w formie lekko orzechowej (utlenienie). Dość interesujące piwo, w przystępnej cenie.

(Bottle, 0.2 l - BB 18.09.2015, at tiong’s tasting, thanks Marduk, 20160109) The beer poured amber and clear. No head. Aroma had vineousness, malts and raisin. Palate was medium bodied and sticky with hardly any carbonation. Flavours were a lot sweetness, some raisins, malts and bitterness. Afertaste was sticky sweet and mildly bitter. Otherwise good brew but excessively sweet.,

200ml bottle (thanks Mari & Kalm) BB 18.09.2015. Clear amber color. Small size, white head, stays. Caramel, sweet, raisins, plums in aroma. Sweet, raisisn, plums, caramel in taste. Sweet, raisins and old hops in aftertaste. Way too sweet for me. But alcohol is well covered. Brew for aging.

Nice rich amber, but almost no head. However I cannot give it the 3 it deserves because of the fucking stupid sealing atop the cork which shattered into a million flakey shards and made a mess of the table and my trousers and seat, and Anna’s hair, and probably half of tiong’s flat. Nice raisiny sweet barleywine aroma. Super sweet body, a bit slick. Toffee sweetness and raisiny caramel in the taste. Finish sweet and toffee-ey. Does tickly my sweet tooth, but it really is too sweet to be hugely enjoyable (for comparison though, it’s less sweet in every way than a PX sherry). Covers 12.3% adequately.
