Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - NOV 22, 2014Draft at the Cajun Cafe. This is about as close as it gets to a perfect beer for me. Pours a very dark, cloudy elixir with a mocha head. Aroma is serious dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, slight cinnamon and anise, vanilla wafer, toffee. The taste is very smooth and complex with vanilla wafer, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, roasted malts, and marshmellow. Full body, smooth velvet mouth.
rbrazell (1698) - Florida, USA - FEB 13, 2014Draft at Blue Coop. Pitch black pour with a thick creamy tan head. Rich cocoa nibs, Hersey’s chocolate syrup, roasted malts, anise seed and vanilla beans in the aroma. Thick full bodied mouthfeel with the flavor following closely to the aroma. Damn good Imperial Stout.
Westmeister (2127) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JUN 16, 2013Draft. Had both batch (?) # 3 and #4 side by side at the anniversary. While the fresh batch won out (3.8 vs. 3.7), both were very nice. The newer batch was actually smoother, with more cocoa and almost a lactose feel to it. Bother showed depths of dark fruit, chocolate, super rich and roasted malts and some known booziness. A fine brew.
chuckreece (1) - , Georgia, USA - MAY 2, 2013 does not count On tap at the source. Admittedly, I’m a huge fan of the Russian imperial stout style. But still, this is, without doubt, the best beer I’ve ever had in my life. Period.
yespr (55595) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 6, 2013From tap at the brewpub. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is dense dark malty, liqorice and bourbon. Thick malty, dark roasted, chocolate and thick and rich malty into the finish. Smooth and lingering dark chocolate, light vanilla and liqourice.
Travlr (33863) - No fixed abode, New York, SLOVENIA - FEB 8, 2013Draft at the source. Black color, massive thick brown head with great retention and solid lacing, gorgeous. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, coffee. Taste is over brewed but not quite burnt espresso, bitter cocoa powder, vanilla beans. Very tasty.
Cybercat (12787) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 12, 2013Comes out of the tap a rich, oily sable with a buttery-tan head. I didn’t get much, but that is doubtless because of the pour, and it does leave plenty of lacing. Aroma has roast malt, coffee and molasses notes plus a hint of caramel. Flavor has a roast malt core and notes of caramel, molasses, toffee and coffee - and a noticeable alcohol nip. Firm, smooth texture has a good tingle to it, and leaves a smoky, oily, slightly sweet, slightly alcohol-biting finish. Can’t you hear them Siberian wolves a-howling?
