COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Quadrupel barrel aged on Bourbon barrels. Nice malty taste with notes of dark chocolate and dark fruits. The barrel aging gives a nice warmth from the alcohol as well as a nice aroma of vanilla.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2019 Very good bourbon quad, courtesy of the master. Both Belgian and bourbon character come through. Dangerous drinker.

Bottle 0,375. Pours dark ruby with medium off-white foamy head. Aroma of molases, dried dark fruits, barrels, bourbon. Taste is molases, some plums, dark dried berries, some caramel, bourbon. Full body, somewhat oily texture, soft carbonation. Less sweet than the regular Monk's Brew, where the yeast and sweetness is replaced by the bourbon, which suits my taste well.

12oz. Deep garnet pour thin rim bit of lacing. Rich chocolate and stonefruit (plum largely) nose. Rich and sticky on the palate. Absolutely gorgeous on a colder night than this

Enjoyed at a share at Corbet’s house on July 10. 375 mL bottle. The pour is a darker ruby tinted brown color with a thin ring of light tan head that fades pretty slowly without lace. The aroma is pretty interesting. There is a lot of dark fruits to this. The oxidation is huge. Tons of cardboard. There is hint of raisin and maybe plum before it rolls into a strong and sweet bourbon. Lots of oak. The flavor is much of the same. The oak is huge and the bourbon with it. The cardboard oxidation maintains its grip. The dark fruits kind of fall off a little. The mouth feel is medium bodied with a sharper carbonation and a lingeringly sweet fruitiness to it. It’s strange, that’s for sure. 6 4 6 4 14

Hazy plummy brown under a thin dissipating light tan head. Bold and rich nose of cocoa, wood, date, coconut, sticky brown sugar and light raisin. Full raisin and bourbon flavors with coconut and light booze, smooth and dark and Belgian dark malty (fruity) and a touch of cocoa at the end.

ClubGonzo (5677) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 4, 2016
Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Cloudy deep brown body, medium short-lasting white head. Nose is caramel, bourbon, vanilla, raisins, nuts, wood and hints of toffee, dark sugars, chocolate, deep malts, sweet goat’s cheese and burnt sugar. Taste is chocolate, nuts, caramel, toffee and hints of burnt sugar, alcohol, raisins and sweet goat’s cheese. Medium to light body, medium to high carbonation. Not bad - the aroma is and the oxidation has created some interesting flavors, but the lack of body and somewhat dulled flavors has left this beer in a state likely less fascinating than it was in its younger days.
