This beer poured an extremely dark brown color with a nice white head. Aroma is like the taste, with a cocoa, caramel and hop flavors. Subtle cocoa and hop aftertaste. It is light-bodied but not watery. Drinkability is good and would make nice session porter.

The beer pours out a deep black body with a ruby red edge. Huge eruptive head upon initial pouring, it left behind a bunch of uneven, clumpy/soapy foam. Aroma was rubbing alcohol, light nutty malts, and cooked veggies. Soft coffee aroma started eeking out after about 10 minutes. Flavor is metallic, slight roast. Mouthfeel is over-carbonated, with a "licking a 9 volt" kinda effect...very stinging. Might be one of the worst porters I’ve had.

Bottle:   Deep dark ruby, heavy brown, frothy beige head, falls quickly, sparce lacing.   Roasty nose, slight cocoa and lactose sweetness.   Soft roasted malts on the tongue, low to nil hop aspect.   Comes across as a little thin.   Unlike their lighter beers, this one doesn’t taste organic.   Body is on the lighter side. Finishes with a sweet roastiness and lactose like tinge.   Better than expected, but could stand to be a bit heavier.

Reviewed 9/6/2009 (Bottle): Pours a dark dark brown colored body, with a frothy tan colored head. Has a nutty lagery aroma. Some roasted, but a little off. Roasty, cigaretty. Very ashy. Less ashy as it warms. Watery roasted, not very chocolately, or coffee. Not too bad.

Bottle courtesy of maniac. Pours a clear dark brown with large pillowtop light brown head. Nose is sickly sweet, almost like old milk. Nutty, toasty, roasty flavor is not as bad as the aroma. Extremely thin body, almost watery. Kind of a let down. Blah.

Aroma is strong and smoky with a firm undertone of molasses, more than a touch of sweetness, and a strong hint of fine coffee - very tempting to a stoutie like me. It pours a dark transparent cola brown with a fairly thick pale tan head. Flavor is not quite as good as the aroma, but it is still pleasing - smoky and oily with tones of coffee and molasses. Only problem is there is a soapy or chalky hint - maybe this was not one of their better batches. Texture is smooth and a little edgy with a fair amount of fizz.

Dark brown beer with an amber hue. Thin tan head with decent lacing throughout. Sweet chocolate and roasty malt aroma. Chocolate cherry flavor with a roasted malty chocolate finish.
