Commercial Description:
Is a full, malty beer. The warming sensation of alcohol is evident, and sherry-like flavors are often present.

Draught @ Bend Brewing:   Deep copper, reddish tinge, thin off-white head, spotty lacing.   Soft biscuit on the nose, pale fruitiness.   Strong biscuity malt like flavor on the tongue.   Sweet, but not cloying.   Pretty simple example.   Not the depth I would have expected.   A little mealy on the backside.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Lingering biscuit malts, slightly sweet, a little mealy.   Not bad, but seems more of just and English Ale than and Olde Ale.

On tap @ belmont station. i smell vodka, malt syrup. resin. cloudy deep red body w/ quickly fading but lacing head. flavors of dark caramel, plywood (in a good way), a thin honorable bitterness, almost balancing the deep, slightly dusky, malt.

Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty fruity aroma with some hints of caramel and dark fruit. Malty dark fruit flavor with some hints of caramel. Has a slightly sweetish fruity malty finish with some hints of dark fruit in the aftertaste.

Sampled at the Bend pub. Pours maroon. small white head. Malty but otherwise pretty bland to me. Definitely does not taste like a Belgian strong ale to me. More like a strong brown ale.

Sample at the source in Bend, OR--Poured a dark brown-amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Faint nutty, caramel, sweet toffee nose. Not very exciting, but not too bad.

1/1/08 At the BrewPub with Bikesandbeer after a day’s drive from Portland, Brewery 5 of the trip. Pours dark amber with a bright white ring. Nose is basically dead. Taste consists of sweet malts, low abv in the taste. Eh.

On Tap at Brepub pours out a hazy red topped with a off white head. A nice and sweet along with some spice aroma. task just so so.
