An array of low to mid-spectrum crystal malt varieties form the backbone, but this beer was still a bit lacking. philbertk (826), Seattle, Washington, USA

This time a little lighter on the hops than I remember, a little more harmony tween the hops and malt (not necessarily a good thing, And i thought it was a little darker, still attractive, clear, with modest head. Balanced aroma, tween the caramel and the resiny hops, distant smoke. Very quaffable-- smooth edge hops, no darkness in the red. well-crafted. robforbes (1199), Bremerton, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2009 In keg from brewery - This beer has a great pour, and it looks very drinkable. Very smooth. Not the maltiness found in many ambers. This is a very good beer. I’ll have another! paiste2002 (159), Saugus, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 27, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a clear ruby red with a nice off white head. Aroma is
huge citrusy cascade hops, lightly roasted caramel malt. Flavor is much
the same, citrusy, sprucey cascade hops up front, balanced with a very
nice bready, caramel, nutty maltiness and finishes with a medium sprucey bitterness of the cascade hops. Very nice beer and I don’t really care for
red ales, but the nice hopping is what really makes this a great easy drinking beer. mcbackus (757), Merritt Island, Florida, USA
