An interpretation of the classic American ale. Various malt lend caramel flavor with hints of chocolate. This version has a lot more hops than the English version, giving citrus aromas and flavors.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2019 07-Mar-15 (22-oz bottle, Bottled on 04-Mar-15: Purchased 07-Mar-15 for $6.49 at The Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in San Diego, CA)
This Brown Ale pours a very hazy to cloudy medium-brown body and half an inch of tan head that settles to a quarter-inch sheet and tall ring, leaving spotty lacing on the glass. The nose is roasty, malty, and very toasty, like a 90s-style Brown Ale but with moderate grassy hop flavor and medium bitterness. On the palate, the malts are lightly sweet, very toasty, and mildly roasty with a touch of ashtray, pleasant cacao, nut, and toasted bread character, while the grassy and somewhat pithy hop flavor lends perfect balance, but the medium bitterness lingers a touch too long and pulls attention from the nice malty character. The weight is medium, the carbonation is medium, and the mouthfeel is quite dry. Overall, this is a really solid American Brown Ale with delicious malt character, but if I had to complain, I think the hops are a touch too bitter as that bitterness sticks to the palate in the finish, drawing attention to itself. A bit less bitterness and this beer is very solid.
