Commercial Description:
A West Coast Double IPA So mega-hopped it will take you to hop heaven. We’ve used hops in the boil, more hops in the giant hopback, and added to that, an incredible amount of dry-hopping for that cutting-edge “hop bite.” Once you’ve tasted this unique beer, all others pale in comparison. 1.072 OG Classified IBU 8%ABV

On tap at San Diego Brewing Co. (San Diego, CA): Pours light copper. Aroma more on the fruity end for it’s style; grapefruit, orange zest, apples, pine, and caramel. Flavors of toffee, caramel, floral hops, and citrus. Drinkability: Full on juicy-bitter! Pairing: Rich carrot cake. Rebuy: Yes. #284 on 19022010, DG.

A: A very nice looking copper amber color with a small white head and very nice lacing. S: This beer is aptly named. This is a very fruity IPA featuring lots of grapefruit, mango, and pineapple. Some pine and malt round things out on the finish. T: Not nearly as fruity as I would have expected from the nose. There are still some good grapefruit notes, however. This one is very piney and bitter, which I love. The bitterness keeps the malt pretty much out of the picture, which is, again, fine with me. M: A very crisp feel on the tongue, which is helped by amble carbonation. D: Yet another solid IPA from the folks down in San Diego.

Bomber big thanks to BossHossBikes! Pours yellow/orange with a good white head. This is a west coast IIPA aroma if I ever smelled one. It isn’t super powerful but has big grapefruit, evergreen and assorted citrus. The flavor has a bite with deep citrus and a fantastic herbal finish. I could use more intensity from the style but I guess that’s why Alpine makes two IIPA’s. The bold flavor is crystal clear and delicious.

Bomber, shared by NachlamSie. Pours a nice gold color with fluffy white head. The aroma is rich hoppiness with lots of pine and grapefruit, with some gentle, resinous citrus notes; orange, lemon, mango, and a little bit of honey. Flavor is honey and light caramel sweetness with a nice floral and citric hop profile. It isn’t overwhelmingly bitter, but has lots of fresh hop character. The finish is slight pine with some cherry and orange. A little bit of woody bitterness sticks around in the aftertaste. This is some good stuff.

A: Pours a hazy golden orange color with a nice thick two finger head. The head lingers forever and produces beautiful lacing all the way down the glass. S: A huge floral bouquet of a nose. It is a perfect battle between citrus and pine. Fresh cut grass wafts from the glass along with a nice sweet rock candy type malt. This beer begs you to taste it. T: And as for the taste boy does it pull thru. I would call this a perfectly crafted IPA as opposed to a DIPA, but I am not going to take away any points for that. The balance between malt and hops is divine. You are immediately blasted by the flavor of citrus and pine along with a sweetness reminiscent of state fair cotton candy which arrives on the scene to sweeten it out. What you get is a beer that is balanced like no other. M: Medium bodied. There is a perfect level of carbonation to make this one a true winner.

Bottle. Dark golden amber body capped by a large off white head with some nice lacing. Nose is pine, orange, a fleeting bit of pineapple, all of it somewhat understated. Flavor is more of the same with addition of grapefruit, some bready and caramel malt residing in the background the whole time. Bitterness is present and lingering with a zesty, pithy, herbal quality in the finish that isn’t entirely pleasant. Still very good.

Thanks to Kaiser81 for sending me this bottle as an extra. Pours a light orange color with a white head. The first thing that hits you in the aroma is hops, with tons of pine and citrus in the nose. The flavor has a good amount of bitterness, but the hop flavor is outstanding. Tons of orange citrus with a little pine and grapefruit. This is one complex hop bomb. Medium carbonation and medium body. Very drinkable and I wish this available in Texas.

Bottle courtesy of Smokepot23. Poured a hazy orange color with a thin egg shell head. Nose is resinous with strong caramel motes and a huge hop presence. Lots of piney, grassy, citric notes. Medium bodied with good carbonation. This beer is very tasty. Lots of wet hop flavors, grapefruit, pine, grass also some light peach and caramel. Very drinkable. Medium bitter finish with slight spice.
