Commercial Description:
This special ale is full bodied with an amber/ruby hue. The ruby color is achieved from using a 1/2lb. of fresh raspberries per gallon of beer. This seasonal has a rich malty character with balanced hop bitterness and finishes with a potent berry taste. At 9% v/v, this strong ale is overflowing with flavor.

bottle courtesy of sebletitje. Pours a slightly red caramel brown color with an aroma of berry and lots of it, and a tad bit of malt and alcohol. Flavor is berry, and Ibrew2or3 is right: sickeningly sweet at times and a good deal of alcohol. Interesting, glad I got to try it.

Bottle thanks to bman1113vr. Deep amber with a cream head. Raspberries, alcohol and not much else on the nose. Ok on the palate with a decent raspberry flavor and an off finish.

Thanks to Bob for sharing this one. Gold pour. Raspberry syrup aroma, slightly artificial. Strange flavor. I was not a fan of this one

22 oz. bottle: Cloudy rusty red color, with a dish fomay white head. Aroma is rasperries on top of barnyard. Flavor is dominated, overly so, by tart raspberries, sourness grows with each sip.

At least 1 year old (labeled barleywine). Pours a warm reddish orangy amber with a thin offwhite head. The nose is full of raspberries. Sweet with a good dose of malt. Akin to a lightweight Fort, as there are no signs of alcohol. A heavier body, but not what I’d expect with a high ABV beer like this. The flavor is a letdown after the nose on this. A blunt raspberry tingest astringent maltiness. The alcohol peeps out. The raspberry almost tastes a bit fake, maybe like Robitussin? I have to guess this would have been a bit better fresh. There’s something sharp in the finish, maybe it’s the acidity of the raspberries. Lingering raspberries and light cream.

Bottle. In marker is written "AGED! 2009" on the label. Not sure if this made the beer more expensive or a warning to those scared off by an older beer. anyways....pours a deep, syrupy coppper color with a small foamy white head. Nose is sweet raspberry puree with a light caramel note. Palate is thin and syrupy with a big tart finish. Flavor is raspberry puree and sugars with a caramel syrupy note.

Courtesy of BA trade. Pours amber, tan head.Aroma fruity - raspberry, hoppy and just overall weak aroma. Taste of raspberry and hops, lingering tartness of the raspberries with a light hoppy finish. No idea how this one falls into the barleywine category as pet the label.
