UPDATED: SEP 7, 2020 Bottle. A- Mild smoke, cocoa, black licorice, mild oak. A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Mild smoke, umami, cocoa, roasty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- First time in a long while I've done a 750ml on my own. At 2.5 years of age, it was past its prime but still good. Decent amount of smoke but the body wasn't as full bodied as I'd have liked. Wish for some more barrel notes, but still great.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2020 Virtually black with a creamy, beige head. Aroma is essentially Snickers Bar, smoke and barrel. Not really picking up the advertised meaty note, but still quite nice. Taste is sweet with just a touch of tanginess and some warm bourbon and toffee at the end. Pleasant, and a good example of keeping beer and barrel in balance. Full-bodied, mild carbonation. Easy going for an impy. Nice.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2019 Last minute bottle picked up in SanDestin before audiology appointment. Big aroma of dark malt that had hints to banana but also dark chocolate. Massive flavor of chocolate and sweet malt with a strong bourbon finish. Nice enough.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2019 Do not drink this alone! Actually, my neighbor brought me over the last 1/3 of the bottle....probably cause he couldn't finish it himself! Thank you Nick. Good stuff. The bacon flavor comes from the smoked beachwood, so there is no meat in here. Blend of malts (chocolate, caramel, etc.), coffee, licorice, and bourbon is the theme going on. A bit sweeter than my preference, which I am noticing with a lot of these barrell-aged beers...but for sipping I enjoy it every now and then. Jet black appearance with dark mocha head...doesn't really get any better than this for a dark. I would recommend for sure.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2018 On tap at Republic, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of bourbon barrels upfront, with light vanilla, moderate roast, and a touch of smoke. A little chalky, but this is a big, deep impy. Good stuff.

650ml bottle from Johns Grocery in Iowa City. Chances at this one over the years, but never grabbed before. Pours a very dark brown with a beige/brown head leaving some spotty lacing. Aroma has roasted and smoked malts, with chocolate and caramel, plus some oaky barrel. Taste is ashy, with roasted malts, some smokiness, some chocolate and caramel, and bourbon in the back. This has a nice smoky flavor - well done, without being blatantly 'meat smoke' - much more of a tangy, tart, smoke in a roasted chiles way. Lovely, as a homage to Hammerheart, for example. Interesting how subtle the barrel is, with the smoke being such a component. About full bodied, the blend is quite good, and there is a bit of an alcohol presence. Finishes tangy smokey, with oak, and nice bittersweet malts. Three(?) dimensional finish is always excellent. This is a really interesting brew, a bit different from the fairly standard Clown Shoes impy stouts. Would not thought they would have incorporated the roasted chile concept as well, or balanced the barrel. Cool to have such a non-standard impy stout. 15.9

Black with a tan head. Aroma of soy, bourbon barrel, chocolate, light roast and coffee, some licorice. Medium to full bodied, soy and licorice flavors dominate with a moderate barrel presence. Decent.

Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with maybe a hint of red/purple if held to a bright light. Dense light brown foam that leaves behind some fine lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malt, and molasses. Taste is the same, maybe with a bit of fig or date thrown in, and with a bit of an alcohol burn and bittersweet chocolate on the finish.

If memory serves me right this 22 oz bottle of Porcine Unidragon came from a nearby HEB grocery. Cooled off properly and served into my New Belgium snifter. It arrives a sable black completed by a walnut brown head that slowly dissipates. I take a full sniff. Strongly chocolate, raspberry perhaps, very attractive indeed. Can't wait for a drink, oh my, thick on the tongue, dark chocolate, a hint of coffee, charcoal, some booziness, I still get that berry sweetness in there. It reminds me of TEN Fidy, a high compliment for sure, Pronounced bitterness at the finish. Clown Shoes practically never disappoints, I do not know how they keep doing it.
