Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

(bottle into trappist glass) Poured a dark brown (mahogany) with a one finger head that quickly diminished. Heavy malt aroma with lots of toasted molasses and toffee hints. It was sweet, but not overpoweringly so. Medium body with a nice happy carbonation released all the sweet flavors very well. There was little disappointment here! Paired very well with my hearty stew, but following it’s sister La Fin du Monde, the ABV of both did catch up with me!! It’s sneaky, be careful!

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber with a medium sized off-white head. Flavor and aroma are full of fruit, honey, and lots of malt, plus that distinctive Belgian tang of candy sugar and yeast. Mouthfeel is a bit thin.

Pours dark amber with much sediment floating about. Aroma is wild yeast, overripe fruits (apple, peach, plum). Taste is very yeasty with brown sugar, dates and some hops. Very sparkling mouthfeel. finishes dry and warm. Wonderful

Dark mahogony pour. Very yeasty, sweet aroma. The flavor is generally sweet with a good dose of yeast and dark fruits. A bit of alcohol in the finish. Lots of flavors here.

Poured a cloudy reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, dark fruits and a hint of alcohol. The taste had those same characteristics but was also a little watery and sweet (in a not so good way). Body was a little thin. This brew didn’t appeal to me very much.

Bomber from LCBO. This is one of those beers that I have had SO many times before...but I’m still somewhat new to this ratings game. So here we go...Small off-white head. Redish/copper-coloured. Pleasent aroma with plenty of fruit, also alcohol. Full body. Taste is sweet, a little spicy and with a late, light bitterness. Good.

Another of my favorites. Really, I seem to love everything this brewery produces. Pours a deep beautiful golden amber color, with a cream colored head. Smells spicy, and a little sweet. Predominant taste is spices but it goes down smooth. Alcohol can really start to come out if it warms too much. Not the kind of beer you drink many of, but I always have a bottle or two on hand. Love the picture on the bottle too!

Bottle. Dark honey brown in color with an inch of milky head and lots of dancing yeast particles in the glass. Aroma is tart fruit and yeast. Flavor begins spicy and doughy followed by caramel malt sweetness and hints of cranberry and figs. It finishes with intense carbonation and a strong alcohol kick. Rich and smooth with lots of bold, complex flavors to seduce your taste buds with.
