Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Pours dark with a light foamy head. The smell is of roasted malts, liquor and wood. The taste is similar, but with a nice bitter bite to add to it. It is very thick and delicious.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost opaque with a small residing head. Aroma is of smooth bourbon, almonds, toffee, chocolate and roasted malts. The flavor is medium sweet and mildly bitter with smooth but prominent bourbon notes. Notes of chocolate, roasted malts, toffee and nuts. Ends somewhat dry and warming with hints of licorice and bourbon. Medium to full body, could actually be somewhat more smooth. A good beer, but I’d take Older Viscosity before this one any day.

pours black as the devil’s soul with a dense tan head. nose is raisen and toast and dark chocolate. mouthfeel is heavy and thick, like a good motor oil should be. taste is a little hot, with iodine and burnt toast. the dark chocolate roasts come through at the end, along with a little alcohol bit. a very, very good stout. i will have to get a couple more for the cellar the next time i’m in chicago.

Pours nearly black. Tan fluffy head slowly going to lace. Caramel floral aroma. Flavor of roast malt, coffee, caramel, burned toast, raisin. Low carbonation. Medium to full body. Creamy feel. Dry bitter rough finish. Not real well rounded.Above average brew, but nothing spectacular.

Bomber. Pours a deep, opaque black body with a large tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is sort of hidden but had some pretty good coffee, cinnamon, roasted chocolate malts, dark fruits(cherry) and some booze. Flavor is semi-sweet fruits and some chocolate. Cloves, light yeast, roasted coffee, and nice spices. Full bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Sweet, slight alcohol, dry finish. Very tasty brew!

Bottle side-by-side with older. Pour is almost black with a thin brown head. Head is lighter than older. Aroma is quite roasty and malty with hints of coffee and vanilla. Also notes of chocolate. Flavor is very true to nose with lots of roasted malt, coffee and vanilla. Also notes of peat and smokiness. Maybe a touch of fruitiness in there. Solid and hides ETOh quite well.

Port Brewing Old Viscosity Pours jet black with a thin tan head. There is a slight reddish tinge at the edge of the glass. Oily on the glass in a big way. Aroma of coffee, brown sugar, and oil cured olives (really). Lasting aroma of pleasant alcohol. Flavor is slightly smoky with sweet under tones of coffee and chocolate. Aftertaste is coffee and alcohol. Darn good brew. Seems like a stout.
