| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/20 | Mar 16, 2010 2009 vintage sampled March 2010.. Slightly hazed copper color. Comes off as a strong Belgian. Cloves and banana in the nose w/ a strange sort of vegetal twinge in the background. Thin head. More weirdness in the flavor in the form of a flower-stem tart/bitter twinge. Sweet and sticky w/ moderate carbonation, slightly oily. Slight alcohol burn. I can’t figure out if there’s something up w/ this particular bottle or if this beer is just weird. The cork was intact and it was carbonated just fine but some of the flavors here I have never tasted before and I’ve probably had the displeasure to sample dozens of infected beers at this point. I will try to keep an open mind if I run into this again but I am going to be skipping this until there’s a new vintage out. portableparty (65), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 11, 2010 This rating is from notes from Nov. 14, 2009. 12.7 oz. bottle 2008. Pour was orange with white head and nice lacing. Aroma smelled of wheat and passion fruit. Taste was of typical hefe weizen, but had a rich creamy booze taste that finished slightly dry. Overall very impressed, not expecting this at all. GranvilleTim (612), Granville, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 26, 2010 12.7 oz. 2009 bottle. Amber pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of wheat, banana, light fruit, oak, and slight alcohol. Taste was creamy-all the aroma swirling about. The head didn’t last long, but I didn’t care. A very tasty beer. My favorite of the two brothers. A great suggestion from Binnys beer guy George. blipp (1891), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 10, 2010 Bottle, 2008 Vintage. Pours golden orange with a white head. The aroma is slightly funky with some wheaty notes and a peach like fruity sweeness. The flavor is again just slightly funky, with the same peach notes as in the aroma, a light oaky/whiskey note, and a light fruity sweetness. Pretty unique. dwyerpg (2596), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 30, 2010 Smells a bit funky, almost biere de garde-esque. Not really a barley wine. Quite wheaty, this is really just an okay beer. Nothing worth getting excited over. ManvsCity (119), Redmond, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Surprisingly sparkly and refreshing for a barleywine style beer. 2007 bottle is well carbonated: thick, nearly white head fades quickly on top of a clear amber body. The alcohol is almost totally hidden in aroma and taste. Flavors of green apple, melon, tart cherries, and field fresh wheat.
