Smells and tastes of cherries, cloves and cinnamon. It hid the 8% alcohol very well! By the way, I drank mine cool...not cold. It tastes like it would be good hot, but I didn't want to risk ruining my $10 bottle. Zach Diesel (907), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 15, 2002 750 ml bottle, 2001 vintage I believe. Dark, dark red pour with virtually no head; no "pop" to the bottle either, hope this isn’t flat/old. COLD: nose intensely powerful even at 40 degrees or so, powerful sour cherry tang, bits of chocolate, hints of anise. Stunning. Flavor -- very tart at first, quite flat and still, body on the thin side, some medicinal qualities and syrupiness that isn’t completely wonderful, quick finish. 9/4/7/3/15:3.8 overall. ROOM TEMP: sourness in nose somewhat softened; medicinal quality seems more straightforwardly alcohol now, but there is still an unpleasant “tang” at the end; longer, more sour finish HEATED: color seems to have darkened a bit; tinge of frothy carbonation (immediately dies) as its poured. Aroma not as pronounced, but very pleasant; smoother and mellower, with cherries still dominant but also a nice herbal undercurrent. Flavor: medicinal qualities still present, but mostly at the front; a mellower flavor profile overall, less sour and more earthy/grainy. Some of the astringency comes back at the end for a less-than-stellar finish. 8/4/8/2/14:3.6 Could be my bottle was a bit off; could be I’m just lukewarm on this; but it is far from my favorite fruity beverage. I’d go with a Boon Mariage Parfait, New Glarus, or Rodenbach if I were you, though I do want to give this another shot, given the overall quality of the brewer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2002 Winey aroma. Tart, complicated, warm, vinegary. Utterly flat. Good mouthfeel, no cloying tart aftertaste. The vinegar and allspice put me in the mind of pickled peaches, or those bright red/green apple rings that come in jars. finishes lightly fruity. I want to try more of this. DavefromChicago (201), Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2002 I drank it warm as recommended. Nice cherry meets barnyard aroma, The temp gives the alcohol a vaporous quality that tickles the nose. Nice combination of cherry, malt, vanilla with a well-balanced sweet-tart quality. Pretty red-amber color with lacy head throughout. They musta thrown in a hop or two ’cause there’s a bit of bitterness at the finish. Enjoyable and warming. Cold, it tastes like cough medicine. @ room temp or warm, it just didn't taste good. It poured w/ no head and looked like a some sort of cherry drink. THis one's just not for me.
Re-rate 1 May 2004: thx to elnadeau for the sample.
It was a lot better (than the 1.1 I gave it previously) this time. Smelled like cherry pie; slightly sweet; very drinkable. Had it at room temp. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA

Tasted cold and at room temp. Aroma is spiced cherry pie. Flavor follows aroma with sweet cider tartness, cinnamon. An interesting creation, quite good - glad I ventured to try it.
