Commercial Description:
1837 is a blond beer, slightly cloudy, refermented in the bottle and contains 7% alcohol. It is a great beer, relative to the abbey family of beers. It is brewed from a blend of Québec-grown raw wheat, lightly roasted barley and a hint of spices. It delivers a great sensation of freshness.

Courtesy of Degarth. Thanks buddy, I’ve been looking forward to tasting this one for a while. Pours a hazy yellow straw with thin white head. The aroma is sweet candi sugar, lemon citrus, banana and slight yeast mustiness. The big carbonation explodes the bubbly flavors across the palate with not too tart lemon citrus, banana, sugar sweetness, a soft sort of tartness, light brown sugar, vague spice and candi sugar.

Pours a frosty gold with a big white head settling down quickly. The nose is incredibly sweet, but yet constrained enough by fruit and spice to not be cloying. Honey and cinnamon go with the more normal banana cloves apples coriander complex. Orange? Not too fully bodied, but a little grainy and not watery at all. The flavors are a bit more wheaty and grainy, but not bad. Bigger alcohol a bit. A bit yeasty, definite orange. Relatively clean with a good spice kick in the end. Lingering wheatiness. Good overall, I’d gladly drink this.

Courtesy Degarth. Thanks Joe! Pours a cloudy orange gold, with a small white head. Smells very sweet with that unmistakable Unibroue yeast. Very fruity with alot of apples and plums and candy sugar. The taste is of spices, a little nutmeg, fruits, and yeast. Pretty decently complex for a Unibroue beer. Still somewhat similar to most of their offerings, but decent.

Sampled at Mondial de la Biere. Light, yeasty flavor. not much going on here, good or bad. Wasn’t too impressed.

on tap at the Mondiale ’07. very citrus aroma, and the typical unibroue yeast. THis is VERY similar to th Blanche de Chambly. A nice effort, but if you put both in front of me i would be stumped.

Thin but fresh and evident on the nose. Appeared a light wheat yellow colour. Tasted a little salty, but started off with some deep gorgeous malt on the mouth. Enormous head and great carbonation on this one. Fresh and clean in the mouth. Slightly bitter on the finish.

Drank in a tulip glass. Nice golden poor with a frothy off white head. Aromas of bananas, lemon, coriander, hoppy, cork, bread and honey. Very even palate, dry, , you can feel the alcohol... nice sweet longlasting somewhat bitter aftertaste. Added flavors of the pattented unibroue spices... Very much like a nice weissbeer.

29 June 2006 - Luscious sweet apricot and hop aroma. Very light cloudy amber colur, ordinary head and lacing. Simple apricot flavour with some spiceness. A slight tangy bitter apricot finish and aftertaste.
