Bottle sent to me by Prufrockstar a while back - thanks Chris! Dark pour with just a slight head. Really nice nutty, chocolate nose. Rich without being overbearing. Drank the whole bottle myself!

Poured from a bomber into a tulip on 05.27.14. A: Midnight black with a tiny bit of red at the bottom. It has a ring of tan lacing at the top. S: Very strong milk chocolate. It also has a nutty element. T: Hazelnut and milk chocolate dominate. Black pepper and slight oak woodiness are subtle. M: Creamy. A little watery but it works out ok. O: This is like Nutella in a glass. I wasn’t sure of the hazelnut and the pepper but it really works. The pepper and slight woodiness nicely balance out the sweetness. This is an excellent stout that I wish that they had available all of the time. Since they don’t, I’m hoarding my last bottle.

Dark brown pour, medium brown head. Hits up front with a lot of chocolate, then the nuts and some pepper hit. Kind of reminds me of a fancy coffee drink. Creamy and very tasty. Warm finish.

Bottle thanks to my summer secret santa. Shared at gathering. Thin black pour with very little head. Awesome aroma of peanut butter, nutella, cocoa, and light coffee. Tastes like peanut butter, chocolate candy, coffee, and a hint of black pepper in the finish. Light sweetness throughout. Hint of spiciness. Awesome aroma and taste but the ok appearance and thin body knock it down a tad.

Bottle: Thanks, Jason. Oily, thick black pour. No head, thin khaki collar only. Very nice aroma of mildly sweet baker’s chocolate, fudge, & slight Nutella. Dessert like, with a slight touch of roast & oak showing up in the latter half. Didn’t get much peppercorn in the aroma, but they definitely show up on the palate. Sweet chocolate, light roast, moderate smoke, with a strong, but not "spicy" flavor of peppercorns mid-palate to finish. A touch of wood, not as much hazelnut on the palate, but there’s a nice punch of nuttiness & coffee bean that lingers with mild roast. Thinner than I’d expect from a stout, but a really nice beer.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy hazelnuts, lighter vanilla, light chocolate, faint coffee, and a touch of smoke. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head that quickly fades to a very thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, light vanilla, and a hint of molasses. The finish has moderate hazelnuts, vanilla, and a touch of roasted coffee. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, real tasty but a tad thin for an Imperial Stout.

Bottle thank to Prufrockstar. Pours dark brown tan head. Nose/taste of strong chopped hazlenuts with roast chocolate, oak, black peppercorn, toasted oatmeal, vanilla and coffee. Spicy peppercorn in back of palate. Lighter Medium body. Awesome.

Bottle shared by Ryan, pours with notes of vintage grandmom, hazelnut, moth balls, Ganesh wafers and iced coffee. Lighter to medium body with some ultra soft carbonation. Interesting brew but not crazy about her like others seem to be.

Bottle sample courtesy of "goodbye Ohio". Colour...essentially black, with dark brown edges and a thin tan head. Nose...very hazel-nutty! Reminds me of those International Coffee flavourings that are hazelnut. Pepper corns take a back seat to the nuts. Palate...sharp, peppery, and bitter up front and then the hazelnuts hit! Dry roasted hazelnuts, hazelnut creme and notes of day old coffee. Very nice stuff!

Bomber. Deep black pour with a sudsy layer of light brown foam. Strong hazelnut and peppercorn notes in the aroma with a little bit of chocolate and toasted oak in there as well. Taste starts with a heavy dose of hazelnut, roasted malt and dessert spice along with some vanilla, bittersweet chocolate and pepper toward the end. Moderate creaminess in the body with low carbonation and more charred malt and oak in the finish. Overall, the nuts and spices pair quite well with the traditionally sweet and roasty flavors of the style. Would love to see a pumpkin version.
