Milk Chocolate Stout
Decadent and complex while remaining wholly refreshing and drinkable. This Stout is brewed with Milk Sugars and Chocolate to give rich flavours and body that goes down smooth.
Taste of Chocolate and smooth mouthfeel, due to the additions of Dark Chocolate and Milk Sugars (Lactose) respectively. While dark, rich and decadent this beer finds balance and subtlety in its lightness and drinkability. Great for matching with sweeter dishes and intense desserts.

Draught at Uiltje Brewery & Taproom. Hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Medium body with low to moderate carbonation. Nice bitter and sweet tones. Coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and spices. Nice.

On tap @Salt House in Galway, pours black with a thin off-white creamy head. Nice aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee, and malts. Great taste that is sweet, malty, creamy, slight caramel, with a smooth finish. Full body and light carbonation.

Bottle from Dicey Reilly in Ballyshannon. Appearance - opaque black with an olive sheen. Nice crema head. Nose - soggy cereal and light nutty chocolate. Taste - tasty chocolate, crunchy biscuit. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - a solid example of the style.

Intense toasted malts, filter coffee, dark chocolate. Black, small, creamy, beige head. Light sweet. Dark chocolate, toasted malts, sweet filter coffee, molasses, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Nice Sweet Stout, well-balanced, nice aroma and palate. Keg at The Black Sheep, Dublin.

Bottle in ireland. Pitch black colour, medium brown head. Nose is cafe de leche. Taste is low sweetness, low bitterness. Hint of coffee. Sou sticky aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice, just don’t like the sourness.

Bottle from KWM Wines Kilkeel. Slightly on the watery side with a sweet smokey tobacco coffee mix. Good fizz on the pour with a toffee coloured head that quickly disappears. Easy to drink sweet tasting stout. If only it had a greasier mouth feel.

This one was a very nice first beer from the Galway Bay Brewery & one that I was happy to have tracked down after much searching in the city’s bars that day. The beer was a very well-balanced, smooth offering that started with quite a lot of chocolate flavours coming through & a decent amount of sweetness too; an excellent stout & one that I’d be happy to go back to in the future.

My Bottom Line:
Milk chocolate is topped with roastiness and mild vanilla in this intelligent Milk Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the blackness.
-This is not a vanilla mess, for once. A dessert Stout you can actually drink because it stills tastes like Stout AND the dosage of the adjuncts is just.
-Drinkability is high.
-Mouthfeel is expectedly rich despite the 4.5% abv, but the roastiness cuts into the sugar nicely.
-Dosage is perfect. Never got tired of the chocolate and lactose. Great pint of Stout.
-If they ever offer through on nitrogen, it’s going to make a killing, methinks...
