On tap @ Stumbling Monk in Seattle. Hazy reddish amber with a thin white head that skirts my glass. Aroma of cherries and caramel with sourish undertones. Malty palate, caramel with cherry and plum fruits, moderate acidic sourness, spicy nuances. Decent Flanders style.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2014 Draft... Pours clear, dark and deeply crimson with a huge, rocky, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma, as a whole, is a mixed bag of scents – black cherries, dried dark fruits, lactic acidity and funkiness, toasted nuts, caramel and toasted malts. Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and busy carbonation. The flavor is tangy and fruity, but not really all that tart. There are a couple of the usual Flemish suspects – caramel and cherries, but overall, this is pretty thin. Finishes crisp, refreshing and a touch raspy with a hint of buttery toffee in the aftertaste. It’s probably diacetyl - reminiscent of a Heath English toffee bar.

brokensail (21480) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 9, 2014
On tap @ Beachwood BBQ. Light brownish pour with red highlights and a small khaki head. Nose is like tart cherry cola. Brown sugar and baked apple, oak, and balsamic vinegar. Flavor is more of the same. Perhaps more sweet than sour. Cherry and apple are there big time. Slight cola, soy sauce, chocolate, and balsamic. Hints of wood and caramel.

NikkTwist (6126) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 14, 2014
Draft at Khyber Pass. Poured a hazy ruby briwn with a slight white head. Somewhat malty sweet and sour. Black cherry cordials. Tart plums. Dried blueberries. Light liquorice. Slight teaberry. Faint smoke. Hint of vinyl. Big dark red fruit flavors with ghosts of dark malt flavors (but no coffee). Reasonably sour. Unusual palate.

alexsdad06 (17935) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 25, 2014
Draft at Dutch’s in February. Pours a hazy brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, tart/sour dark fruit favoring cherries with some plum, wood, and a splash of chocolate. Decent tart flavor, but a good amount of sweetness too. Soft carbonation makes the finish weak.

Tmoney99 (21142) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 12, 2014
Draft. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit, sour and sweet aroma. Medium body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and sour fruit finish of moderate duration. This is solid beer.

b3shine (12184) - Westfield, Indiana, USA - FEB 13, 2014
Draft to snifter at Dutch’s. Looks good for the style; an opaque dark amberish brown with foamy light beige head. Smells tart with a Flanders-esque presence. Tastes like it smells, but not as robust. Average on the palate (too under carbonated for a sour). This Sweet & Sour could do without the Sweet.

3.8
DrSilverworm (11383) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 13, 2014
On tap at Dutch’s. Hazy brown color. Thin khaki head, leaves plenty lace. Good aromas of chocolate, some dark fruit, light spicy wood notes. Medium to bigger body, lightly slick, but not sticky. Good moderate sweet taste, and light sour tartness (more so in the finish). Smooth, kind of creamy lighter carbonation. Pretty damn tasty sour brown ale. Great, thick mouthfeel for the 6.5% (found this ABV after a bit of googling).
