UPDATED: DEC 16, 2021 2015 Vintage on tap. Poured deep brown, near black and a thin sized tan head. Roast, vanilla, chocolate, whiskey, wood, and this one aged very nicely.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2019 Tasted at 2019 Prop day. Pours black with beige head. Thick and chewy. Super mellow with the aging. You get just a little rye spice with cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel. Goes down very easy.

egajdzis (9954) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 6, 2019
UPDATED: JUN 7, 2019 Opaque black with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, caramel, nuts, vanilla, wood, whiskey, and lighter booze.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2019 2013 draft only version preserved to a 16.9 oz. swing-top bottle served to mini snifters by Kevin, displaying a black/brown hue, a thin ring of tan froth, no film, and minimal spots of lacing. The nose was light malty sweetness, slight cocoa, dark fruit as plum, prune, and raisins, with some barrel hints, and subtle spice. Medium+ bodied, the taste was similar notes, some syrupy texture, low carbonation, but who cared, and mellow but potent booze & warmth. Exceptional.

11/14/18 (Chicago): $5 3 oz sample draft glass pour offered via "Epic Flight" at the Goose Island Taproom. 14.2% ABV. Dark black pour, thin tan bubbly lacing. Strong sweet bourbon aroma. Very sweet smooth taste, bourbon and malt well blended. Very smooth and creamy mouth feel, very enjoyable drinking. Overall excellent offering!

fraternie (1115) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2018
Thick body of rich dark chocolate and molasses, with blast of spicy rye whiskey through the long, perfectly balanced finish. Char and burn. Some oats/ cereal flavor, a touch of oaky spice. A standout at 312 Block Party 2018.

2018 Great Taste of the Midwest Somehow I got funneled into this tap line upon entering. I wouldn't normally wait for these despite them being world class but would never turn down a chance to enjoy a new variant of a fantastic imperial stout. AROMA / APPEARANCE A dense oily black pour. Rich bourbon (Templeton as expected), vanilla, coffee, and strong malts warm the air with a potent and boozy foundation. FLAVOR / PALATE The full bodied chewy texture coats the mouth in malty bourbon. A long lasting boozy finish matches the intensity of the initial profile. I might prefer an actual bottle of Templeton Rye given the cost to acquire a bottle but this excellent release deserves at least a small sample if you happen to run across it at any time.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2018 On tap at France 44 bourbon county release. Super dark pour. Strong whiskey aroma, chocolate. Taste follows, boozy, sweet, rich, thick. Amazing.

Aroma of chocolate and whiskey. Flavor is perfectly balanced. Whiskey is faded and the chocolate comes through. Pours black with a tan head. My God is this beer perfect
