Alaskan Barley Wine has been produced in limited edition vintages each year since its introduction in 2003. A big beer for big winters, this brew has garnered a steady following in Alaska. Bottled for the first time in 2007, the balanced flavor collaboration between hops, malt and high alcohol showcases the barley wine style, winning first place at the 2007 Toronado Barley Wine Festival and bronze at the 2008 World Beer Cup.

650ml bottle from Elizabeth Station bought on 5th Anniversary event, shared with Jamey and Brad. Vintage 2011. Pours a hazy brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet with dried fruits and caramel. Taste is pretty much the same with lots of sweetness, caramel, and toffee. Some hoppy bitterness on the back. Good barleywine. I can only imagine how good this would be barrel aged.

BeerRenter76 (1097) - Texas, USA - MAY 10, 2017
Originally rated on 1/26/09. This barleywine was a bit of a let down, the alcohol was too overbearing in the flavor department, overshadowing the faint floral hops. Mouthfeel was nice and creamy, and it had a decent finish. Overall it was o.k. and i wouldnt mind trying it again.

Bottle sample @ ABR 2016. Dark reddish pour with a small head. Nose is fairly nutty. Stewed grain and pastry. A hint of smoked wood. Flavor has some earthy roasted grain. Hot and nutty. Chewy malt abounds. Mellow plum and caramel. Full body, a real sipper. Nice.

Bottle in Seattle. 2013 bottle. Found at Costco last year. Dark malty red body, thin ring of white foam. Rich malty body, spicy American barleywine character. Deep, cherry fruit character starting with the aroma. Rich body, alcohol spice. Sweet, mild body for the alcohol weight. Smooth vanilla, velvety body. A touch of bitterness at finish. Nice beer, impressive.

Bomber, 2013 vintage. Boozy aroma with rich dark fruit, caramel, a bit of nuttiness and some hoppiness. Pours dark caramel colored with a thin tan head that has some retention and good lacing. Starts with sweet dark fruit and caramel malt flavors with a rich body. Finishes dry with a bit of nuttiness as well as some hops and warming booziness. Nice American barleywine.
