Commercial Description:
The brewmaster's pet. This rich and complex black beer has a smooth, deep, roasted flavor. The chocolatey-coffee finish in this brew comes from a mix of crystal, black, and chocolate malts.

Draft at Brewpub. Pours dark brown with a a retentive tan head. Nice aroma of coffee grounds and dark roast. Medium bodied with a light texture and a hint of fizziness. Flavor of nuts, coffee, dark roast, and chocolate. There is not a lot of residual sweetness. Bitterness comes out on the dry finish, but has some chalky and milky notes as well. Probably the best beer I tried here.

on tap-pours a light tan head and black color. Aroma is coffee-dark malt. Taste is rich dark malt/oat-brown sugar, ashy, dark fruit-raisin, slight acidic hops, zero carbonation.

Draft @ Silver Peak. Pours a dark, chocolate-brown color; medium-tan head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing; nice pour. Generous amounts of basic roasted malts and dark chocolate. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and some licorice at the core; solid, inky, generously roasted maltiness; very solid porter, if just a touch too charred and bitter. Lengthy finish: roasted malts, chocolate; nicely bitter and dry.

A deep dark porter with a thin dark moka head. In mouth,a good chocolate porter with grain husks, rye, a bit lactic. In aroma, chlorine chocolate of badly washed lines. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, August 2007.

On tap (from notes). Pours an extremely dark brown with a medium sized mostly lasting tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, baker’s chocolate, and a touch of vanilla latte. The flavor is much like the nose; big roasted malt, dark chocolate bitterness, and moderate sweetness from the vanilla flavored coffee. Medium bodied. A decent brew in a relative beer wasteland.

On tap at Silver Peak Reno, NV Pours out a dark brown almost black topped with a nice dark tan head. Nice light roast and a little vanilla on this one. Along with a little bitter bit at the end.

On tap @ Silver Peak poured a translucent brownish black with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate, roastiness and a hint of vanilla. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, bitter chocolate and roastiness with a smooth lingering moderatly bitter finish.
