Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

I can’t believe I haven’t rated this before. .5L bottle served in a large Weizen glass. Beautiful chestnut pour with 2 inches of creamy khaki colored foam resting on top. The nose is mostly banana with a touch of caramel. Drinking it is very similar to drinking a caramel-banana milkshake. It enters the mouth thick and creamy and taste of Banana, caramel, dark fruit, and a hint of clove. A wonderful beer.

Dark murky brown, thin creamy head. Aroma is roasty, yeasty, big caramel, and berry fruit sweetness. Also a grainier vibe. Taste is dry throughout and beer has an easier start that feels more full-bodied in the second half with big booze and sour fruits, but also banana, with caramel, and lighter chocolate candy; also toasty.

Muddy brown pour with an enormous and extremely persistent off-white head. A very fine looking beer. The aroma is dominated by the expected clove character, but also includes plum, raisins, banana and wood. To generalize a bit here, the flavor of the beer reminds me of a belgian in many ways, but possesses a more forward bitterness than most darker belgian brews. Lots of raisin, cloves, port, vanilla, caramel, and an overriding herbal hop bitterness that serves to clean things up very nicely. I get the feeling that this could easily have been a big, messy beer, but everything comes together very nicely. Though pretty sweet, it’s never too much in that regard. Mouthfeel is thick and velvety. Excellent beer, and probably better than the eisbock in my opinion. I may need to pick up a case of this tomorrow.

Pours hazy brown with slightly off-white to brown head. Nose has some brown baked goods aromas with clove, spice, maybe citrus and fresh bread esters. Palate has a beautiful, traditional weissbier fruit core in it with chocolate covered banana, clove, and a dessert spice on the end. Very creamy mouthfeel that is delectable. Finish is long and hefe-weizen fruit like.

Brown coloured beer with some very light carbonation and a medium white head. Malty and fruity hinted aroma. Full palate. Finish is fruity, banana and light wheat-yeasty hinted with a sweet light malty ending. Nice.

500 mL bottle pours a rich tobacco brown with a nicely retaining khaki head into a weizen. Aroma of sweet malts, raisins, plenty of yeast, overripe fruits, clove, almost a sweet relish characteristic. Very similar flavor: quite sweet and malty with clove coming in, vanilla, very yeasty with a strong raisin-like presence, plumb and lemongrass in the finish. Velvety mouthfeel with a strong body and a medium level of carbonation. Funny to think I hated this the first time I tried it when I was just getting into craft beer. Love it now.

Pours hazy brownish purple with a medium head and no lacing. Aroma is floral with strong yeast notes. Flavor is quite tart with lots of yeast and clove. Notes of banana, plum, jasmine, wheat and spices pervade. Finishes slightly bitter but retains it’s fruity qualities. One of the most pleasing German beers I’ve had since I was last there.
