Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Draft at San Diego Brewing Co. Dark with decent head. Aromas of ripe bananas and malt. Flavors of bananas as well with hints of espresso and malt. A great beer.

Very complex. Nice maltiness in the nose, bit citrusy and sweet. Good fruitiness in the flavor, banana and lemon predominate. Slightly wit-esque in its clove spiciness, but restrained enough to not overpower. Big, big malts finish up. Great palate, nicely creamy and full.

Pictureqsue clear brown beer, with golden fringes. Quickly fading bubbly white head. Strong wheaty fruit notes in the aroma. Very dominating aroma. Very crisp sugary wheat. Good presence of malt, backed by a banana tone, complexed a little with light berry. An extremely crisp refreshing beer. Leaves a pleasent smack of caramel behind.

Haven’t had this gem in a year, so I figured it was time for a rerate. Reddish brown with a large head and good lacing. Aroma banana, wheat, caramel, chocolate, cloves... more. Very complex aroma and the flavor is better. Fairly sweet finish, but not overly so. Very good balance here. For a non extreme (triple imperial barrel aged whatever) beer, this one is kick ass.

Poured a big head but it didn’t last. Dark brown with ruby tones. Had a big chunk of yeast on the bottom which I swirled off. Has the typical-for-the-style banana, yeast flavors. Alcohol well hidden. Very good.

Pours a medium brown, very fizzy looking. Head is huge! - it’s officially the biggest head I have ever seen on a beer that I poured myself. Smells of pepper, lemon, lime, bananas, chicory and cloves. Tastes yeasty and spicy; cloves and banana, but with roasted and chocolate doppelbock characteristics as the undertones. Can taste alcohol. First few sips were interesting, but after the three sips, I was nearing beer heaven. Drank this one at about 40-50 degrees, so taste was rich and right on the money. Deserving of its status as a 4-point or higher beer on RateBeer.com.

Bottle from Asda. Sweet, slightly chocolate-y brew. Pours brown, with a nice head. First off I didn’t quite get this one - it just seemed like a sweet, heady beer, with a warming finish. However as I drank, I got the excellent balance, enticing sippability and smoothness. I’m not massive on big sweet beers (give me hop instead please), but I did like this.

Poured from the bottle at The Volunteers on Baker St (London), deep brown with a large rocky slightly off-white head. A strong raspberry aroma with juicy malt in the background. Malty on the palate, with stewed pip fruits and caramal towards the middle. The finish is rich and tangy.
