Nose is toffee, roasty and sweet---"Nice." Flavors of freshly roasted coffee, toffee sweetness, stone fruits and a hint of hops. Active carbonation and a medium mouthfeel. Caramel, burnt sugar, malt, milk malted milk balls, maybe a hint of moth balls, too. Tastes sweet. Would have enjoyed a bit more roast or smoke. Not bad. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 15, 2010 Bottle:
Pours a dark black beer.
Head is white to beige foamy and disappears pretty quick.
Smell is bit hoppy, and a slight smell of some roasted ingredients and coffee.
Taste is bit watery (probably because of the reinheitsgebot), slight bitter, hint of roasted ingredients, bit of coffee and just a bit of sugars.
Fine Schwarzbier. GuyCuba (17), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 12, 2010 Resembles Coca-cola with a very foamy tan head, which dissipates quickly. Very mild aroma with grass and citrus notes. Mild malty flavor, just a bit sweet. Feels much lighter than it looks. Thin, watery texture, soft carbonation, unremarkable finish. Very drinkable.
