| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/20 | Feb 7, 2010 I was not a fan. It was very yeasty and metallic to me. Surprisingly light and drinkable. But for some reason it tasted like Guinness Draught, got together with Dos Equis and a handful of pocket change and made Köstritzer Schwarzbier. I’ll admit I may have had my palate destroyed by the Speedway Stout I had just prior to this so I am up for another try. On the plus side it was kind of unique and interesting. I have no regrets buying it, but like I said... maybe another try--maybe another day berlinoise2go (43), Norway

Medium-sized greyish beige head, reducing fairly rapidly. Very dark/black with a faint red hue. Dry roasted malt aroma with hint of licorice. Waterty mouthfeel. Dry stout-like taste with an intriguing underlying malty sweetness. Fairly short aftertaste. jonno (660), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 5, 2010 Smooth and tasty. Tap in signature glass it is pitch black with highlighted head. Nose is muted roasty flavours. In the mouth lots of dark roasty goodness with a thin to medium body. Gives a lot for it’s ABV so should be commended for that. Very dark reddish pour with good tan foam that recedes quickly. Very light aroma, if anything a bit of toast, fresh grain very low hop profile. This beer is surprisingly tasty lots of roasted grains, nice sweetness balance with a dry finale. Decent palate. Reminds me a lot of Wernesgruener. (Anyone who lives in Montreal and has spent time near the Molson brewery, the "horsey" smell is the same). Flavour is clean malt with an obvious dark character. Hop flavour is not very apparent, and there is little bitterness in the finish. Overall, good beer, quite different than I am used to. troopie (951), USA
