Commercial Description:
Our porter is rich and robust, dark brown in colour with a dark roasted coffee nose, imparting an intense coffee flavour with notes of chocolate. Made with beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac’s Coffee, this porter offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market.

Amazing how much flavor and smell gets packed into such a light crisp beer. My only complaint is that the smell keeps attacking you rather than enveloping and inviting you. Thank you Daknole.

Bottle in a trade that broke in transit about an ounce survived somehow locked into bubble wrap, but most was lost to the box. Squeezed out through a strainer, a black body with no head given the breakage. A smokey roasty coffee tone with some light chocolate. A few careful sips gave some light chocolate and dry coffee roast. Okay.

11.5 oz bottle from the brewery, served in a snifter. Pours deep brown with frothy tan head. Good head retention and good lacing. Aroma is of fresh, dark-roasted malts with notes of chocolate, coffee and smoke. Flavour is dry up front, with coffee notes entering towards the end with a hint of herbal hops. Medium in body with a slightly oily texture. Finish is moderate in length and dry, but with lingering notes of coffee. Overall, a fine example of a coffee porter. Quite a bit drier than I expected, but this complements the coffee quite well. 2010-02-27

Bottle by TheJester (Thanks Andy!) Brown black small tan head. Aroma is coffee grinds, meat, grapes and cocoa powder. Flavor is much more sour than expected (grape’s like) with coffee bitterness; delicious. Smooth and medium creamy palate. Quite refreshing for a porter. A pleasant surprise.

Bottle from LCBO. Tan head which dissipated fairly quickly. Nice porter-like aspect. Coffee flavour is dominant but not as much as you’d expect, with it being brewed with coffee. A delicious beer overall.

Bottle from LCBO. Dark brown, almost black, appearance with nice tan head. Strong coffee aroma with slight hints of vanilla. Taste is dominated by espresso flavours, malt, and some bitter hops. Not quite as rich as hoped, but delightful just the same.

Serving type: 341ml bottle Poured a very dark brown, almost black color with about a 2" light brown foam head. You can really taste the coffee, also you get hints of dark chocolate. It almost tasted like the alcohol filled chocolates. I really enjoyed this beer,

(bottle) black colour with tall tan head; aroma of coffee with hint of smokiness; taste of coffee with light bitter finish; overall not impressive, very simple and one dimensional

Bottle. This pours a very dark brown almost black with a nice frothy tan head. The aroma is of coffee roasts and there is also a little chocolate too. The taste is coffee but it is not overpowering and it is also sweet, almost fruity. It has a nice finish and good aftertaste. Overall a very enjoyable beer that I will drink again.
