Hopheads rejoice! This strong IPA takes the style to a new level. It’s a big Imperial IPA packed with Nugget, Palisade, and Amarillo hops. Previously 8.2%.

Picked up at the brewpub meself. The silly cartoon now makes sense, it’s big on malt and on hops. Cloudy with an off-white bubbly head. CItrus aroma, and the dot loace. Big mouthfeel: big bitterness and big maltiness. Above average mouthfeel. Big and bold, hits the mark.

An old rating i finally got to entering. Aroma was pretty hoppy but has a solid malt profile also. Flavor was really citrusy overall. A solid bitterness too.

Bottle (22oz). Shared with blankboy, my bottle via trade with sirpsycho. Lovely thick and cloudy deep orange pour, average beige lasting sticky/creamy head - good lace (4+). Balanced aroma - thick sweetish malt, plenty of acidic resin hop bitterness, a dry wheat/grain overlay - and some alcohol (not much). Taste - initially very malty, not too sweet but thick, then the strong resin/citrus hop bitterness kicks in and pitches a tent, and the alcohol shows up soon after to cadge a smoke and tell tall tales. Thick bodied, quite acidic, heavy malt backbone but the hop bitterness outlasts it in the fairly long finish - but for all that incredibly drinkable - reminded me of Arrogant Bastard, but way smoother, and a bit less malty.

Bottle (22oz) shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a cloudy orange-copper with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Big hop and malt aroma with lots of citrus hops and bready caramel malt along with some spices -- quite nice. Flavour of big citrusy hops, quite bitter, with just enough malt backing it up along with a bit of spice, some alcohol and fruit. Long bitter finish. Medium to full bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Very good stuff, I’d love to have it again.

22 oz bottle

This was a bonus in a trade though I lost track of which one. Thanks to whomever sent it as it has been sitting in the fridge for a while ready to be consumed. While not a terribly exciting example of a double IPA this does have all the right characteristics. Under the right circumstances (warm day, cool breeze, grill going) it might be a nice choice.

Aroma / Appearance - The two finger head cascaded down into the amber body underneath before relaxing. The aroma of a freshly cut Christmas tree asserted itself almost as soon as it began to settle. There was also a hint of spring roses in the background.

Flavor / Palate - The mouthfeel of creamy vanilla soda was not what I was expecting at all. However I soon was back in comfortable territory with the introduction of tree bark and orange rinds. The bitterness was slow to appear but packed a punch when it finally did. While this is not as intense as any of the West Coast IIPAs it is still a quality product.

Transfering from tasting notes. Bottle. Orange/amber pour with a big white head. Lots of pine and citrus on the nose. Well balanced hop and malt flavor. Not bad.
